LOWES

hello all. Im currently in the process of buying my first home. Im due to close the loan on tuesday morning. however there are some small improvement things i would like to get done immediatly. i would like to take advantage of lowe's fianacing programs. im just wondering what my chances are of getting approved. my current scores are all in the mid to high 600's. no recent lates or collections and i was able to get a home loan fairly easily  and make around 65K per year.

any advice ?? thanks !!!

Re: LOWES

Congrats on your new home! After closing, you should be able to get in with Lowes, on your scores, they may not give much if you have a lot of recent inq's.

Re: LOWES

Can totally confirm this.  I have lots of recent inquiries due to prolonged mortgage shopping and app'd for a Lowes card.  Got a $300 SL.  Chatted with customer service but they told me to do the online CLI, to no avail.  I'll work on small purchases and paying it off immediately to help it grow.

Starting Score: EQ: 594 / TU: 614 / EX: 614
Current Score: EQ: 773 / TU: 800 / EX: 766
Goal Score: 800 ATB

Congrats on the new home.  When I got Lowes 2 years ago, my EX was between 650-660.  I started off with $500.  I was not able to get an increase the first month, but I bought something small, paid it off, then after the statement cut, requested an increase which was granted.  I don't remember the sequence of increases, but I do know that I went from $500 to $15k in the first year of having the card.

I think you have a good chance of being approved with your scores....SL..not sure. Congratulations on your new home. I wouldn't apply for anything until after closing on your home...good luck!!

Re: LOWES

Lowes pulls Transunion.  You might have issues

Re: LOWES

When I applied for Lowes my TU (which is what they pulled) was around 650 and I got a $300 SL.  They wouldn't budge even after the first statement and usage...took 3 statements before the kicked it to $5k.  After my 6th statement I asked and was approved for $17k which is where it's at now.   I haven't requested another increase because $17k far exceeds my needs.  Best of luck to you and congrats on the new house!

Re: LOWES

Lowes (GE/Sync) and Home Depot (Citi) might start you small, but they grow quckly even with limited usage. My currect Lowes card is $35k, the wife has another $25k, Home Depot $25k, the wife an additional $10K.

0% finance options on larger purchases, extended 84 month financing on projects (higher amounts at a good APR). Show up in the store, price out your shopping list and say it comes to $2500, then go look at 500 SF of hardwood flooring and say that's another $5000 plus $2000 install, tell them you are applying for $10k for your new House. The store will relate this info to "lending" and if they say yes to the $10k, open the account and buy the $2500 shopping list of stuff with an excuse that you want to think about the $7500 for hardwood flooring or you don't want to max out the card right now.

If they approve the card for say $5000, same story except its not enough for the flooring. Pay off the $2500 and ask for a big CLI chances are they'll grant it. One you are approved for the Lowes card, go apply for the HD card, again in the store and say "I just got a $10k limit from Lowes (or whatever it is) but some of you products I perfer and since I just bought a new house I've got lots of projects.  Good chance they'll match or beat the Lowes approval.

Now you have option...

Re: LOWES

My scores were in the mid 600's whe I applied in the store. SL of $2400, so I went to the car and  5 minutes later called Credit Solutions and they immediately bumped it to $6K. I used it a bit and PIF for 2 billing cycles and hit the love button for $25K and got $17K.

Even if you get a modest SL, they will grow quickly.

Congrats on the new house and enjoy the projects!!
