Am I the only one who thinks the BOA 123 card kind of, um, sucks? I guess it's okay if you have basically no other cards, but 2% on groceries is nothing exciting as you can exceed that with several cards, and 3% on gas is sort of good, but nothing terribly exciting unless your gas spend happens to be quite high.

It seems like one of those cards that they need to update to make more interesting or competitive as there is nothing it does especially well.

I think 123 has its place, in particular that they will occasionally counter with the partially secured if you don't quite qualify AND BofA will add 123 to their secured card - so it can give a rewards card to rebuilders and people new to credit where many other banks won't (with the exception of Cap One in some cases - and depending on spending habits 123 beats QS in some cases).

Yeah, there are other cards that beat the pants off of it but for the people I'm talking about, they don't qualify for those cards.  If you're rebuilding or new to credit, it's nice to be able to pay your annual fee with rewards.

Just my 2 cents on the card.

Re: Is this an actual BOA pre-qual

Anyone have Bankamerideals with the cash rewards 123? I get those deals buy my DW do not. Some are good at 5% and other up to 15% cash back, burgers, italian, pizza, autozone, starbucks, sears, kmart, car wash, sports. And I think that is in top of the 1%.

Also an extra 10% if you put the money on BoA account, so the card is 1.1, 2.2 & 3.3%

It is not the best card out there, but for people building credit is great. Some people even deposit 5K to it to have a higher limit card better than the starting toy limits of 0.5 & 1K

Re: Is this an actual BOA pre-qual

Anyone tried this? For months I always got their "default" offers and now this. I'm guessing they're just changed their pre-qual to be more like Discover and get more people applying...

They still pull TU, don't they?

I just tried it with a bunch of fake information and got exactly the same result. Smiley LOL

Yeah, same here. I'm thinking of apping for the Fidelity Amex as I move some IRA $$$ to Fidelity. When I saw the Fidelity Amex is issued by FIA card sevices (BoA), I thought I'd try the BoA pre-qual to see if they've gotten over my 2010 BK7. Got excited by the offer of $100 cash back for spending $500 within 90 days, but then did a search here & found this thread. I tried the pre-qual again with the name Joe Blow, my address w/wrong street # & my birthdate & last 4 social - got exactly the same offer. Looks like they're trying to out do Discover. Pass
