Joined DCU - Question about their products

I have a lot of inq’s because I went on an app spree before I had read enough threads on this site, about 20-25 on each of the 3 CRA’s. I have now stopped but before I did I joined DCU. I figured I have 2 years anyway, what is 1 more inq? So, I got approved and joined. Now they are sending me e-mails about their cards, car loans and such. I think I read on here they do a HP for each and don’t use the first HP to do the cards and such. But, before my 30 days expires (if it applies to them) is there anything I should do before the big 24 month wait while the latest pull from DCU is still fresh?

Here's the thing about DCU, everything you apply for is a hard pull on EQ. membership, hard pull. savings account, hardpull. credit card, hard pull. checking account, hard pull. they arent like penfed. I have had zero sucess with them, they have my EQ score at 711 but they dont like all my inquries.

I read that on here too. That is why I went ahead and joined. So that when I do need their services, I won’t have to start off with a HP.

Re: Joined DCU - Question about their products

Do not open a credit card with them. If you do, it will come back to haunt you. They soft pull monthly. I was approved for 2k and made a $400 purchase, 6 days later they closed my account for high utilization and their card was the only one reporting a balance.

They also cleaned out my checking (without my approval) to pay off the card balance. They did it the same day it was closed.

Did they give you any reason? Their mortgages are what appeals to me the most. I am going to refinancing my home in a year.

Re: Joined DCU - Question about their products

They told me they didn't like it that I spent $400 on a brand new card they issued me, even though my limit was 2k. They will also lie to you about not doing a hard pull for the first 30 days of membership. Everything you open with them is a HP. I have 4 from them.

I have heard if you wait for the pre-approval's, they will not HP you.   They pre-approve for Auto and CC cards.

I hope they do this with me. My truck is already at 3.9% but I still owe $30K on it so I wouldn't say no to a refi.
