Joined PenFed, app'd for Uber, what about Merrick?

I joined PenFed today, they were not able to approve me a credit card due to DTI, deliquent, BK7, and charged off Navient of $18k since 2012. I'll just park my PenFed account with $5 in it.

I app'd for SL $2500 with Apple Rewards, approved. Recon'd for $3500-4000, denied. 15" MBP / iPhone 2018 planned.

So I app'd for Uber Visa, I got the following message:

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide you with an immediate decision on the application you just submitted.
Your application requires further review, which can take up to 10 days.

We will notify you in writing in no more than 30 days (and often sooner) about the status of your application.

What does this mean, exactly? Do I go ahead and recon this? [Edit] Oh, I just looked at the app status, it shows declined. Thoughts on what to do? How do I explain/recon this decision?

I also got Merrick's Double Your Line credit, SL $700 increase to $1400 in 7 months. Do I go ahead and app for it?

What do I do with CreditOne and Milestone now that I have better offers above?

Sorry about the denials.. Merrick is a very good rebuilder card.

They have a prequal site now so I would start there but if you're prequalified, yes I recommend them.

Good Luck

App'd for Merrick, approved

I attempted to recon Uber Visa, they want to see established history with Apple Rewards first before approving for Uber. They also said something about Uber being more likely for approval 2 years from bankruptcy. I guess YMMV plays a strong role in this one.

So, here's the two approvals I got so far:

Barclay Apple Reward - SL $2500

Merrick DYL - SL $700

Definitely not complaining here.

You might also consider Amex my score was 663 and they approved me with a SL of 1000. I applied prior and my score was 601 and that was a decline. Also if you can get into NFCU they aprroved me at 1K. Keep up your good work!

I also got the same message for Uber. Called the recon number from the site. They mentioned it was a security verification issue. I submitted a few documents (via physical mail). While in that process, the application status kept saying I was denied. They approved my card after a few days. I would definitely call and check what the issue is, just to be sure.

Merrill is a great builder card. I personally got the offer, but wish I waited. From my research they initial offer I received was ok, but had a small annual fee. The first annual fee of $39 was taken out all at once, but every year there after its split into 12 payments which can be annoying and your stuck with it FOREVER as long as every other terms in your initial approval offer. They do seem to keep sending offers that are usually better than the previous ones. From what I read they are a better combination of no fees, higher starting limit to double and APR. so it pays to wait for a better offer

I actually did call; they wanted to see me establish some credit history with the Barlcay Apple Rewards alone.

I have a BK7 dishcarged in 2017 - the BK friendly cards thread shows that you need to be 5 years post-DC before trying AMEX.

Part of problem is Barclay's will typically only approve 1 CC with them every 4-6 months although there are exceptions to this rule, but it is the general rule.. You applied for the apple card first (which btw is going to goldman sachs soon, but another story) and got approved then applied for the uber card 2nd..  Even a person with a 800+ score most likely would of been declined as well doing that although a recon call possibly of overturned that, but doubtful.  If you would of done uber first you might of just got it..
