Kohl's SP to App?

I resisted the offer for an allegedly SP Kohl's app at the register tonight. The clerk pointed out twice that it's a SP that would "only stay on your credit report for 30 days." I'd never heard of that. Does that make sense? Is Kohl's really a SP?

This is not true. The original acquisition of the card is HP (mine is still showing for 01/15) and all CLI are SP. person at the register was most likely trying to hit a quota. Pretty common for them to not know what they are talking about.

I thought they've always done apps at checkout. Having worked there, have you ever seen them doing SP apps at any time?
