Kohls CLI decline

So, my kohls card just hit 6 months, I tried the button & it said it couldn't be processed. Got the letter in the mail today.
It says
Length of accounts too recent
No real estate
**bleep**? Ok first, I know I'm newer. My oldest cap one is 13 months old. But lack of real estate? Is that even a real reason?
My score is 634, I do have 4 medical bills due to fall off this year, all cards paid every month. Do I try again? Idk. I use kohls a lot, I'd like more than a 300 limit

Re: Kohls CLI decline

I've had Kohls 2 years with a $300 limit and was always declined when I requested an increase. Then one day out of the blue at my 2 year mark I received a letter for them telling me they want to increase my limit to $700 and to go on the site to request it. They're not good about giving increases.

Re: Kohls CLI decline

My Kohls charge was at $300 limit for four years.  It was also my only card. Then I got a 'Happy Birthday - call us so we can increase your limit to 700'. Yay.  It was another year at that limit. 5th year - online cli to 1500, and 4 months later, 2500.  Plan to do the final CLI to the 3k max in July.  The card has a small max limit but I love their deals.

I think getting other cards & using them responsibly helped. Putting spend through the card didn't seem to whether I PIF or carried.

Re: Kohls CLI decline

That sucks to hear! I was going to ask for an increase within the next month.

I started at $300 and went to $700 after a year, but can't get it to budge from $700

Re: Kohls CLI decline

Hi Everyone,

I have a kohls charge also and my limit is $300 it has been that way for almost 2 years now. I have also tried requesting CLI and have had no luck. They are very strange about this i believe. It is almost like they say when! My father on the other hand has had his for about the same time and he went from $300 to $1500 in less than a year and that was automatic CLI he did not ask for any.

Good Luck on your journey...it is a soft pull so i would just keep trying.Smiley Wink

Re: Kohls CLI decline

I do have other cards that I do use responsibly, and at this point, I'm grateful for the amount of credit I've been given. Since a year ago I couldn't even be verified. I'll wait it out. It's not like I'll close it, kohls is a mile from my house & with 6 kids, I've already run thousands thru it.
I was just completely baffled at the reasoning. Credit score, I can work with, letting accounts age. I got that. But lack of real estate, well there's nothing I can do with that in the foreseeable future.

Re: Kohls CLI decline

I've seen in other posts where it's said 'Lack of real estate' is just a tacked on reason - they need to give you more than one, I guess.

I got my 700-> 1500 cli the month my 2nd card (cap one) turned a year old.   A month before was a polite but firm no via phone (didn't know about the online option then).

That's why I think it's related, but who knows.  Just keep trying...eventually you'll get it.

Re: Kohls CLI decline

Lack of real estate? Wow.

I've been lucky and have had the opposite experience. I've had CLI's every few months with Kohls. I haven't made it to $3K yet but I'll be checking my last CLI date to see if it's time to ask again.

More than enough credit.

Re: Kohls CLI decline

I didn't get another CLI on my Kohls until my credit score improved the least 30 points. I kept getting declines stating my credit score doesn't warrant an increase. So I tried every 31 days until I finally got one and my limit increased from 700 to 1500.
