Just another thought. I personally don't recall being asked who my employer is -- only what my household income is, which can be almost anything: UI, spousal support, education grants, child support, Social Security, disability, parent's income if one has access to it, etc. The list goes on and on, so IMHO, I don't think you would be committing any fraud. Just my 2 cents.
My wife just applied for Chase Southwest credit card and it asked for her employer.
@PrinceCorwin wrote:A little update here: I finally accepted a new position with a huge company making more money than I ever have. Ran up about $2200 credit debt during layoff. I could have gone back to work earlier but I held out for a good position. The day before my start date, I walked into my bank (BoA) to get a print out for direct deposit and was told I was preapproved for a card. BOOM! They gave me the cash rewards card with $1500 SCL. All in all it's been a good week. Just wanted to drop an update and thank all of the thread contributors. MyFico Forums has been a God send.
Oh good. Glad everything worked out for you.
