I got this same letter in the mail and it DOES indeed look like you are already approved. The letter is very misleading. It talks about “no hidden fees” then lists off “No fee to apply, No fee to call us, no fee to submit this application.. yada yada yada” and then it has the same kinds of fees FP and Credit One have. It honestly just looks shady. I didn’t even apply because the AF, rate and fee structure looks worse than FP or even Credit One. I didn’t apply because I don’t want the card but I have to agree, it does look like it’s a done deal.

Whether people like those cards or not, but to tell me I'm misinformed is way off base. So we have two different experiences, then neither would be incorrect, and it would appear to be up to the lender/creditor.
I have never had FP or any other subprime cards so I will take your word on how they appove people. Do you actually have a source that indicated this specific lender will not HP you? Just because one subprime lender (FP) will approved you without a HP doesn't mean every (sub prime) lender will do the same.Good luck in trying to get the HP removed since you actually gave them permission to pull your credit.
You really need to get out of this mindset that you can apply, not get HP and have the option of declining the account, this is not how it works once you get past subprime scores.
I do agree this card sounds horrible.
It's not a mindset honestly. It was a one time issue. Not something you do with every card you see. As far as the HP, once again my gut says take the loss here because it more than likely won't get rectified. I'll still give it a shot though. I've had inquiries removed before from my file within a 4 month span of hitting.
