Letter from Sync re: amazon cli

I hadn't requested an increase on any of my sync accounts for the better part of a year so I figured it wouldn't hurt. I was denied on all 3 accounts (marvel, Walmart and amazon). I received a letter today regarding amazon stating my request was denied because the increase was beyond the maximum their policy allowed (or very close wording to that effect). Anyone else get this? Amazon didn't ask the amount I wanted so I'm not sure of their explanation.

That letter just means they're being stingy online and you can call CS @ 877-379-8173 and they'll give you whatever you want for a CL.  Ask for 30K and let them counter.  I had the same policy letters all the time with Sam's and was about to just close it until I came across the magic phone number in a couple of threads.  Gave it a shot and asked for 30K and they said sure w/ proof of income but they could do an immediate increase to 25K w/o IV.

Re: Letter from Sync re: amazon cli

Thanks! I'm tempted as my current limits on my marvel and Walmart card were gotten via calling but a 1/3 of my credit is through synchrony and it seems like cc's are tightening the belts so I'm afraid of jeopardizing what I have.

How much did you ask for? I recently requested an increase on my Walmart from $6k to $10k (or I thought I did). It was instantly approved, but then I got a letter with similar wording, but also saying they CL was raised to $10k. I think the Synchrony sites, for Walmart & Lowes anyway, don't like decimal points as they automatically add it & 2 zeros at the end of what you enter. So I'm pretty sure I accidentally asked for a $100k Cl for Wallyworld, because I also recently requested increase from $5k to $10k for Lowes, and I noticed when I entered 10000 when I moved down to the next field it automatically made it $10,000.00. Also instant approval for Lowes.

Re: Letter from Sync re: amazon cli

It's all funny money in the end.  Synch will hand you the world if you ask and if you do somethig silly like go from 5% utilization to 60% in a billing cycle then they'll shut you down.  You've already taken Diversification 202 and spread your self amoung other lenders to safeguard against something like Synch shutting things down.

Do you actually use them on a regular basis or are they just there for fluff?

I pushed them on Sam's to 25K and haven't used it since the call a couple of years ago now.

Looking at your signature on here though you're stuck in a rutt in the $2-$5K range except for Synch which is about par for the course.  It's time to tackle some of the other lenders then and CLI the hell out of them if possible to shore up your fluff power.

This game is all about being able to see you be able to manage a higher limit card properly.  Lenders don't like to be the first to go to 5K/10K/15K/20K and so on.  Once one does it throws you into a different bucket for scoring.  It's funny how it happens to one card and then they all want to jump on board to match or beat each other to the top of the pile.

Personally I wouldn't want to concentrate my available credit with a single lender either.  Especially one that's known to be a little loopy at times.  It takes a little bit of time, persistence, and planning to figure out how to move forward from here.  Your situation though it does make sense to go for a CLI even if they want a HP just to balance things out a bit.

Re: Letter from Sync re: amazon cli

On the amazon one (where I got the letter). I wasn't given an option to ask for a certain amount. Same with the Walmart request. Only on the marvel site was I asked what I wanted and I only asked for a 2k increase

Re: Letter from Sync re: amazon cli

I get the same thing when I try the luv button on Amazon. I asked for $12k and got it last year by calling the overseas CS number. I occasionally buy big ticket items and use the promo financing, and I generally spend about $500-1000 a month on regular purchases with 5% statement credit so I should have shot higher. At some point I should call and get them to up it to at least $25k so I don't keep passing 30%, but yeah it looks like there is some cap on limits for requesting online.

Re: Letter from Sync re: amazon cli

My "rutt" as you put it comes from a lot of activity taking place over the last 18 months. I've cleaned up and opened up a number of my accounts so, I'm in that waiting period for my accounts to age and the inquiries will drop off. I've learned enough from here to know and to stay patient as to why my limits are what they are right now.

I do use my sync cards a lot. I might hold off on doing anything else (unless I get an auto cli) for now.

Good decision.

Re: Letter from Sync re: amazon cli

In my experience Sync cards "max out" at $10k using the luv button (exception Lowes) unless you call in. My Amazon Card has been stuck at $8k and Walmart 10k - now closed since I got the Sams card which I can use at Walmart, stuck at $10k, both for the last 2-3 years. Since these are usable limits (I did add the Chase-Amazon SL $5k) I don't bother to call in and ask for more, which I really don't need, but both are at the bottom of my current card credit limits (I only have 3 cards under $10k and only 5 total at $10k or less).

Truth in advertising: I have a low limit old Amex card (original Optima) that I rarely use with a very low APR and a open date of 1978, I'm not counting that card in the above figures - only keep it open because of its age (I'm not a fan of AmEx).
