In the event of your death (heaven forbid), she can manage your account that way (I'm guessing) and since she has her own creidt profile, shouldn't be effcted negatively by your passing.
Personally, I wouldn't do it just so that it can be in both your names. There will be plenty that will be in both your names.
But hey, I'm single what do I know!
Mainly I want her to be able to do is just settle the accounts with what the insurance provides. I saw my parents deal with this when my dad passed away. Because some accounts were solely in my dad's name they would not let my mom pay the accounts. But they came after her in collections stating that because they were married that she was responsible for the bills as well. I couldn't figure out their assinine logic in that: can't the money directly to us to keep everything good but you can pay the collection agency later. Stupid people I swear.
I'm good with AU stuff, this thread is giving me some good points to show her.....keep them coming folks.

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!!! I know everyone is different but my wife and I have no joint credit cards, we do have each other on some cards as AU's and that's good enough for us. Never felt a need to apply jointly plus if we get denied on an app we can't blame the other for holding us back ha ha.
We do the same with bank accounts as well, we have his, hers and ours accounts with the ours being the one we use to pay bills. Your scores and a recent bk might hold you back from certain cards even with your wife's good scores. So maybe wait a bit and get at least one or two good cards together, either way the choice is yours, once again congratulations!!!
Thank you I appreciate the congrats! I will also pass them onto her as well. I am fine with seperate stuff because of the work issues that can come into play. But I also know the old addage "if momma ain't happy, ain't no one gonna be happy" LOL.
I am leaning more towards the AU option as well. We will always have the seperate accounts as far as banking. Just too much of an issue due to work stuff if something happens.

Re: your bk, it's unusual to not include any CC's so am assuming all your accts were current & avoided being written off.
Your scores are lowish but you can improve that in 3-6 months.
LOL I have learned to expect all kinds of advice on here.
I had 2 CCs when I filed I had paid them to zero with no derogatories prior to filing. I had an ex that flat out ran me into the ground money and credit wise.. She literally went thru $40k in cash over 3 years plus everything else. Luckily, I got as much paid as I could before I filed. My scores are currently a little low because I did not add any cards until about 45 days ago and had to do an app spree so I lost some points there with the INQ and reduced AAoA.

She posed an interesting question: If we did the AU route, what card(s) would be best to do that with? Also that would report and look good on both CRs?
There have been a couple people on this board who got in with CHASE (Freedom) at 3 yrs post BK but that is unusual. More likely 4-5 yrs. AX 5 yrs, BofA 4-5 yrs and CITI 7 yrs although I and many others have gotten approved for the CITI and BofA secured cards to get in early with them. CHASE and AX do not have a secured card. There is a link on this site titled BK friendly lenders /cards that is kept updated check it out. Good luck!

Yea I bank with BOA and US Bank. BOA has offered me a secured card but not sure I want to go to another secured product.

Congrats on the upcoming marriage!
My advice - being happily married is like rowing a boat - sometimes you have to row, sometimes she has to row. But if you can both row at the same time, it will go faster and straighter.
About the AU route - since her scores are higher than yours, it would help your scores to be an AU on her CCs that are much older than yours. For example, if she has a CC that is ten years old, that would help your AAoA. If all of her CCs are older than yours, it would not help her AAoA to be added to yours.
I am thinking there must be some sort of legal document you could sign giving her survivor rights to your CCs. I am sure it depends on the state you live in, but surely an attorney could figure out something for you, during a free consult.

Thanks! Yeah she some prime cards that are 10+ years old. Slate 13 years old, $16k limit and a $4k balance on it. Not sure how much of a pain in the rear it is to get Chase to report properly on both CRs since we have different addressess. I am trying to get a card with a $5k limit to report to try and open that next level on my credit profile.
