Looking for advice upgrading CSP to CSR

Greetings!

I am currently interested in getting the CSR. CSP is my one and only credit card I have had for 2 years now. I spoke to the customer service rep and they informed me that was approved for the CSR but I would not receive the sign up bonus. I read online that people downgrade their CSP to the Chase F/FU and apply for the CSR. At the moment I don’t feel too confident downgrading and applying because of short credit history. Should I just go the safe route and upgrade? Or downgrade and apply? Thank you.

Additional info:
Annual Income: 80k
Credit Karma TU/EQ: 766
AAoA: 2 years
CL: 5k
Utilization: 10%
Perfect payment history
No inquiries

I was under the impression that the CSR was still a $10K minimum CL card. I hope that wasn't a mistake by the rep to offer a PC to the CSR since you have a $5K limit on the CSP.

If I were you, I'd take a chance and apply for the CSR after downgrading the CSP to either Freedom. You'll have wait a little while until the card updates in the system as a Freedom card or you'll be automatically declined for any Sapphire product.

If you had more inquiries and more recent new accounts, then I'd wait or PC, but you're good to go on that end since you have nothing new in the past 2 years.

If you get declined for the CSR, you can request a CLI on your current card (hopefully on the same pull to take advantage of the HP), and then try a PC again.

Personally, I like to take chances, but you may have a more conservative approach.

That was my main reason the low CL and only having one card. Do you know if there’s a time limit on PC? For example if I downgraded to the Chase FU and the CSR app got denied, how long would I have to wait until I can PC from the Chase FU to the CSR?

Sorry, I'm not really sure about that with Chase. Some lenders may tell you that you're not eligible for another PC on the same account for 6 months, like Cap One. But, what I'm still not clear about is if you were guaranteed by Chase a PC to the CSR with your current $5k CL, or if you were just wondering if you could PC to it. I really thought it was a $10k minimum requirement for it. Maybe it's just a current offer for you, but I don't know if you'll still be guaranteed a PC from a Freedom product to the CSR eventually with a $5k CL. This offer could be unique to your account only, and you're probably better off asking Chase some questions.
