I just joined MyFICO for credit scores.
Looking to get a mortgage in the next couple of months.
I have never had my own credit card, only been an authorized user on my fathers CC.
My scores were EQ: 706, TU: 705, EX: 741 (AU on husbands card only agency with that info)
I have a car loan that was paid off early (closed account).
2 student loans that were paid off early (closed accounts).
So I currently have only closed accounts, all in good standing, no negatives at all!
This would be my first credit card, because I believe I can increase my score a bit in the next couple of months to get a better mortgage rate.
I checked online and was "pre qualified" for the Capital One Quicksilver and Venture. But I did some reading and it said these were for "Excellent Credit".
Any suggestions for a card I can definitely get approved for with rewards?
Is it a good idea to get a CC before applying for a mortgage or should I see what I can get with my current scores?
