Low Limit Discover

I got a $1000 SL on my discover and i haven''t activated it for i do not want this card until i have much higher limit.

also, if i register this card now, i will not be able to apply for Slate/Freedom cards with chase for 5/24 rule,

what are my chances of getting higher limits on discover? I have not yet activated nor is it showing on my credit reports anywhere just yet.

Re: Low Limit Discover

If I were you, and I wanted a higher limit, I'd call them and see if they will reconsider giving me a higher limit.  Worth a shot!

Good luck!

Re: Low Limit Discover

If you applied for the card it will be on your report (and count against 5/24) whether or not you activate it.

You may as well keep the card and ask for a CLI.

Re: Low Limit Discover

that is  the debate i have. Previous experience with CreditOne has confirmed for me that it will not be reported until its activated.

Credit One is not Discover. Odds are, the card is going to report, even if you close it.

Re: Low Limit Discover

lets see, they have issued 15th of every month their satement date?

will require a tough fight should discover choose to report, but wont give up that fight.

Experience is the best teacher.

Re: Low Limit Discover

You might want to keep it, and work it for cli's.  Without knowledge of your profile, the limit given is something Disco feels comfortable with.  Word of caution: multiple posts lately about Chase canceling new approvals for 5/24 issues, new accounts and thin files.  Discover has tightened up about starting limits/limit increases over the last year, that may be the reason for your sl.  Call 'em, ask for more!

Re: Low Limit Discover

I just got my new Discover IT card, too. (Also got $1k SL, but no complaints here.) Before I activated the card, I read all the enclosures. Page 2 says they pulled Equifax. That was a surprise. I had figured they would SP Experian since I'm registered for Discover's Scorecard and EX is the score you get. After getting my updated EX score, I prequalified through the Scorecard link, and yet they pulled EQ for my card app. Same for you? Check your enclosed papers.

@I had the same issue. This was my fourth CC and they gave me a $1k limit. My next lowest was the Cap1QS1 @ $7250 and my highest was the CSR @ $25,200.

I called in to increase the limit and they refused. A few months later they lowered it to $600. I keep having Bt offers, so I transfer and pay in full within a few months. Still nothing.

Wont seem to budge past $600. Two weeks ago, The same week that Discover rejected me (again) for a CLI, Chase gave me a $6500 CLI.

Hope your experience is bettter.
