How many new accounts?

I would recon. They pulled TU for me about 2 weeks ago. Instant approval for $500 and I reconned to $5K. Score was 662 and I've opened 6 new cards since Jan.

I'm sure they're nervous because I've done quite a few apps recently and approved for a total of about $25k. I did have a Lowes card at one time with a $500 CL but never used it. The numbers I have from the backdoor list are the numbers I had anyway and called. The caller id is pickig up my phone number and associating it with my account. Oh well.

Re: Lowes Card - shot down

I just called back and spoke to a nice young lady. She believes it is because I closed the other card back in November and there is a year wait before I can try again. Maybe that is it, maybe not. I'll find out when the letter arrives. Might have to check into Home Depot. I closed that card back in November too so it could be the same issue.

Re: Lowes Card - shot down

Just to be sure, order a free copy of your credit report. All the paid / free credit report services I'm aware of hide various details.

Since you were denied, don't waste a free report on that. Do not use AnnualCreditReport.com; save for later  ... instead request directly from the bureaus that were HPed by Lowes.

It's a round about process and not obvious. TransUnion is especially bad! However, with the right link, it's a breeze.

http://www.transunion.com/personal-credit/credit-disputes/credit-reports-disclosures.page?tab=stateg...

(may generate an error message in some browsers due to outdated security settings; not a showstopper - it's safe to proceed)

Click the "Find out if you're eligible" link and choose the second option, and proceed from there. If any time you're asked for payment details or end up at AnnualCreditReport.com, you've been detoured. Try again.

Equifax is simple, but beware their security questions are tricky. My hunch is it's intentional to steer many to their paid products, but I digress. 3 and potentially even all 4 could be None of the Above (I've had 2 - 3 be None on numerous occasions). Have another credit report handy when answering the questions, because they sometimes go way back - creditor names may be under old names and/or servicers that aren't readily familiar.

https://aa.econsumer.equifax.com/aad/landing.ehtml

Choose the third option. Very simple process. Click the Save as PDF soon as possible during viewing. Once you leave, some details of the report may no longer be viewable on subsequent visits.

Experian - https://www.experian.com/reportaccess/

Very simple. EX comes with a bonus. Save the report number and then log in with that daily - it updates! It's better than their paid service, since it shows more payment history and dofds.

Hope this helps.

This might very well be why. I got my Lowe's card a month or two after my first big application spree when my utilization was still pretty high and I might have had 1 or 2 medical collections on there,  still was approved for like $3500 I think. A few months later a friend applied on my advice and was denied, he has perfect payment history but very high utilization at the time. Still was surprised he was turned down for this card.

Started: 4/14 Bank of America Signature $6k, 85% Utilization, 745 Fako

Re: Lowes Card - shot down

Just an update. I ended up with the Home Depot card. They gave me a $1,701 CL to start. Once activated I'll ask for a bump in CL. I read how others easily got theirs increased on the spot and will try that angle. I'm probably going to buy a lot of flooring Smiley Happy

Re: Lowes Card - shot down

That's the first time I've heard of a person in the 750's getting denied for a Lowe's.

I probably had like 15 recent Inq's and 20 new tradelines and they still gave me $700.  My score was around 650 at the time.

Craziness I tell you.
