Hey guys, a couple of weeks ago I froze and/or opted out of a few (6-7) secondary credit reporting agencies. Last night I applied for DCU and was instant denied, received an email shortly stating:
"We regret to inform you that your recent application to obtain a membership with DCU has been denied. The methods that we routinely use for remote validation of the information you have provided on your application have failed to provide us with the required level of positive authentication.
Please note that for security reasons we are unable to disclose what factors may have contributed to the denial. This is a standard process that is followed for all applicants."
Truist, Citizen and Bread cashback AmEX all came back with, "we will get back to you in 10-14 days".
Do you guys have any idea which of the secondary CRA they pull?
Was ChexSystems one of the ones you froze? Banks and CU will either check ChexSystems or Early Warning Systems for opening checking/savings and membership. DCU uses Chex. If frozen, that's a no pass go for you.
@blindambition No cheksystem wasn't one of those and I don't think they share database with innovis, lexisnexus, ARS, corelogics or sagestream
With the credit cards, supplemental reports from Clarity, CoreLogics, innovis, LexisNexis are used. Many lenders won't approve if those are frozen.

If Chex wasn't frozen, most common DCU denials are related to negative info on Chex, or Chex inquiries. If you've opened a lot of bank accounts in short period.
Perfect chexsystem. Only checking account opened in the last 4 years was a discover checking account.
DCU soft pulled EQ as well, no derogatory, 0 inquires 750+ score.
more baffling was Truist denial after pre-approval for all 5 cards. Another soft EQ pull.

Because if you went through with applying for all 5 cards like you said in the Truist Post you were going to, that's why. Truist UW clamped way down. Even early on when I got 4 cards I had to contact Truist Fraud Dept and UW and explain what had happened in my applying that I thought the first 2 apps didn't go through so a couple weeks later I app'ed again. When I did finally receive all 4 cards none of them worked. They were all locked down. Luckly when I called and was sent to Fraud they ask if I wanted all 4 cards and I had a strong enough profile and history with both BB&T and Suntrust (the Truist merger) that they allowed it. NEVER would or will I do that again on ANY card.
@bigseegar Lol obviously I was kidding about applying for all 5. I only accepted 1 offer out of the 5 prequalified list that showed up.
I'm glad it worked out for you thou. Congratulations

This is the part of the denial that interests me
