How long should one wait to ask for the upgrade to the American Express card? I just received mine in December so I know I'm in no position to make such a request. Just for future references. Other than making sure I pay on time and I don't have any or many balances on my other cards when I ask, what kind of score range would I need?
I used to work at macys. According to the credit line that only employees could call they suggested either applying originally for it (already past that point) or waiting about 6 positive months with the cards. Of course it depends on your credit profile as well. AFAIK they will tell you hard pull but will end up being soft. I dont think I have heard of anyone who has asked for amex after 6 months not getting it even if its with a small limit.
i was upgraded on my request in about 10 months of having the card.

You can ask whenever for a macys amex upgrade. They will pull your EQ fico 08 bankcard score. I was denied macys but approved for bloomingdales upgrades, both cards are 5 months old.
