Hello All -
I just got off the phone with a CSR about upgrading my regular Macy's store card to the Macy's Amex. I researched other posts regarding others' experiences with this process prior to pulling the trigger. When I called I specifically asked if it would be a HP, and was told "yes, absolutely." When putting in the request she only asked me for 4 things:
1. Last 4 of SSN
2. Income
3. DOB
4. Mother's maiden name
After supplying the requested info, she told me it takes 30 days for the review/decision. I asked if that was standard, and she said yes. From my research on this forum - the 30 day message indeed seems to be standard. I will give it 3 days and check online - per others' experiences - to see if the card image updates.
However - here is my question - being that I was only asked for the last 4 of my SSN, will it only be a SP? Being a cardholder for over 10 years, Macy's may have my full SSN on file, but I thought that if it is a hard pull that it is standard to ask for the full SSN. I am aware that others were told its a HP, but only a SP occured so I am curious...
Any thoughts? I'm hoping it ends up being a SP. Haven't received any auto alerts yet...
Thanks in advance for input!
It is a softpull... You can now stop worrying..

You are welcome!!
I did the same yesterday through "Live Chat". I honestly thought the 30 days was "CSR speak" for indicating I was declined for the AmEx version.
If not, why's it take 30 days?
How do you check online?
I got the store version 12/14 online, bumped to $1K a few days later in store and just got bumped to $1.8K a few weeks ago. Which I only noticed when reviewing my CCMP report last week, never got any alerts from anyone
Hmmm?
Never noticed this before on my account page(but that doesn't mean it wasn't there), there's a tab labelled "activate your card" which brings up a window for Macy's AmEx
Enter card#, 3 digit security code, etc, etc
Does this imply I was approved for the upgrade?
Usually if you get approved you will see the card shown in the picture when you log in being the Amex instead of the store.

Nah, just shows the store card since apping yesterday.
Not thrilled with their online account page, doesn't show CL, available credit or pending charges. I wouldn't have known about my CLI if I hadn't stumbled across it in CCMP!
I called in to upgrade my Bloomingdales to an Am Ex last week (6 days ago) and the Am Ex logo now shows on my statement screen. Will have to call and confirm the limit.

Did it take 6 days to appear?
