Macy's Card New BK Rule 18mo from DC?

So I apped for a Macy's card a week or so ago and just got the notificaiton in the mail that I was denied due to Bankruptcy.  I filed Ch13 March 2013 and was discharged April 2017.  From what I've read here in the forums, it looks like 4yrs from Bankrtupcy filing is when you can become eligible for a Macy's card again.  So I called the number on my letter and they told me that it has to be 18 months from the discharge date before you can get a Macy's card.  Is this a new rule?  Anyone have any insight or other data points on this one?

That's odd, I applied in May and got denied. Ch7 DC on 10/2010.  Did burn them.

I applied for my Macy's card 4 years ago.   Macy's was IIB and I was denied in-store but approved on recon with a second HP.   My BK was filed in October 2005 and still reporting at that time.   At that time, the rule was 4 years from filing date, according the analyst I spoke with.   

You may want to call the recon number listed in the Backdoor Numbers sticky thread in Applications to see what they tell you.  However, be prepared for a second HP if you are able to recon.

@SunriseEarth I noticed in your siggy you have the Macy’s store card and Macy’s Amex.....did you apply for those separately? Was an upgrade ever offered?

I asked for the upgrade back in 2014 through chat and they approved with an SP.   AFAIK, they no longer offer the AMEX upgrade on request; they have to be applied for in-store.   Perhaps someone else with more recent experience has new data points.

yeah the same happened with me, it took a while to get approved for Macy's

I reconned a denial some months ago and they told me I could have only 2 inquiries in a year. I wonder if my 2 year old bk was the real reason ? It ould make more sense.

@stinastina That definitely is not true. It’s only June and I have at least 4 inquiries this year, with a BK reporting and I was approved. 

I wish they could tell us the real reasons for denials.....even if it’s “coz we don’t want to”.
