Hello!!
So here's the story, I had a Macy's account opened back in 2000... it was closed in 2011 due to debt consolidation program and then paid off in full around 2014 or beginning of 2015. Anyhoo, I am thinking about reopening the account but only want to do so if it is beneficial to me (helpful to my AAoA). So I happened to be on Macy's site shopping and noticed that when I signed into the account my macy's credit profile was still available. It shows a credit limit and all but doesn't show available credit. So I decided to chat with Macy's and tried to get more info. Well they told me the account was indeed closed and that I would have to reapply online or in store. Now before I waste an inquiry, because I would only be doing it for the history, does anyone know how this will report if I reopened the account. Will they reopen the closed account? If so, does anyone know which credit bureau Macy's will use. I tried asking the agent via chat but she told me that they pull all three reports, not sure if its true or if that was just what she had to say. I read somewhere that it would be EX but that was a post from 2015 and I am not sure if thing have changed since.
Now here is a little bit more back story somewhere around 2004... I could totally be wrong about the year, just know that I was in college.... I let the card get behind and it was closed. Sometime later, maybe a year, I paid the account in full and was able to get the card reopened. However, my credit report only shows the actual date the account was initially opened which was the year 2000.
Looking for a bit of guidance, Thanks in advance

When I got the card 3 years ago, they pulled EQ. As for reopening the account, I would say that it would be a new account, but it seems that strange things have been happening in regards to creditors reopening closed accounts. As they reopened it once, and it was closed again, that issue could be a hinderance to getting the card a third time. I guess if you want the card, then it would be worth the hard pull.
@kaykay65 Great thanks for the insight! I am thinking that I may not reopen, simply because I don't shop at the store enough to warrant a credit card. I would only be reopening the account if I could benefit from the history but, since it is not likely I think I will save my inquiry for another.
