Hello all,
My next card app will be either the Chase Marriott or Ritz...please help me decide. Please don't say, "Both" because I am easily seduced...lol. Is there any kind of rewards overlap? Thank you very much for your input.

Both!
Honestly they both earn the same, but if you fly enough for it to matter then the Ritz-Carlton hands down because of the covered incidentals (Up to $300/yr)
However if you fly seldom, The Marriott is a better fit for a long term candidate since the AF bears a complimentary Cat 1-5 stay yearly.

Thank you very much for your input, Nixon.

That's basically it. If you can use the airline waiver, then the AF is basically the same as the Marriott. If you are going to put 10K on the card every year, you will keep Ritz / Marriott Gold, which does come with free breakfast.
However, as Nixon pointed out, the Marriott card comes with a free night every year, which might be a better deal for some people.
Ritz if you dont mind staying at expensive hotels and that anual fee.
Ritz for the 140k offer among other things. When that's not there, I'd go for the Marriott.

As it's been pointed out by NewGuy and myself it's not as simple as all that.
@Anonymous status is worth keeping if you stay @ Marriott at least 5+ times/yr
Yes it's all based on your needs and usage. So, assuming that this card is going to be kept...
If the $300 airline fee is to be used easily by the cardholder, the Ritz (depending on how you look at it) has an AF of $95. For me, the free breakfast alone with worth $95. Others have different needs though.

Marriott for free night, and to start earning 5x points per dollar on Marriott spend, as well as a 20% bonus to base points earned with silver elite status
Ritz card for gold status (first year and every year you spend 10k on the card after that) 5x on Marriott spend, plus a 10% annual bonus on ALL points earned through card spend, 140k points, lounge access, primary rental collision/theft insurance, 300$ annual travel credit, and some other stuff.
Both! XD
They really DO complement each other well. I'm seriously considering keeping them both providing it stays somewhat easy to redeem that $300 incidentals credit even on years where I don't travel much.
