I think they ARE retiring the card, but of course have absolutely no data to back that up.
Not sure where you would draw the conclusion as there is nothing official that has been formally announced (unless there is a turn of events we are unaware of), but the CLI button on my Marvel Card is still there.
As I said, I have no data, and no conclusion. but the reason I THINK they may be retiring the card is:
1) It is being underwritten for approvals unlike any other sync card right now.
2) In some ways it is being managed consistent with cards approaching retirement.
Pleasse understand ... I recognize this is pure conjecture.
Happy Friday MFers, I was attempting to do a soft-pull CLI for my Marvel card as its been a while but sadly the option isn't available. I checked via the chat function and it said they weren't granting them at this time. Is this just me or is it just the Marvel card or is it all of Sync cards?
The card is not my favorite atm and has my lowest CL by far. I was hoping it could at least boost my total available CL for vanity reasons lol. It seems this card can't really help me even for that anymore.
The ability is available on my synch cards. Marvel just hasn't had it in a while
It's not just you and it isn't a brand new thing. It's been discussed in multiple threads over the last several months.

Thank you. My bad! Mods please feel free to close this thread.
My brain's search functionality has been temporarily disabled, it would seem.
I'm not going to flag a mod over it 🙂
The important thing here is that you haven't been singled out all of a sudden for some unknown reason, and given Synchrony's recent penchant for account closings it's understandable why someone not aware that this is a widespread thing would be concerned.
I got this card in May of last year, they gave me a 2K CL, if by the end of this May the CLI isnt available the card will be torched. I dont need it, was going to use it to replace ano card on 3% restaurants and I wanted to have one for my collection. 2K is my lowest CL. Ended up getting the US Bank Alt Go for 4% back on restaurants.
Yeah I'm not too pleased with this card being stuck at $2K myself. I'll probably close it and a few other cards after I do my apps next month.

@SecretAzure- it's been merged with the ongoing discussion from Nov. so that others can see it as well.
The Luv button has been gone for me for a couple months, but that's because I had gotten a CLI on this card back in January and thought I wasn't eligible for another one for another 60 or so days.
Logged in today to see if it's shown back up and it wasn't, so i tried requesting one through the online chat and the robot lady said they weren't processing CLI's at this time.
Now I could've called Credit Solutions and tried through them but I wanted to try one more trick I had up my sleeve, and that was trying to access the CLI page through it's direct link: marvel.syf.com/eService/CreditLineIncrease/creditLineLandingAction.action#
Lo and behold it worked! Popped in my request and got approved for a $750 increase to a $3000 limit.
