Do you remember the identity questions you answered as part of the application? Most likely somewhere you either missed them or flat out answered one wrong. That is the most likely issue that you suffered. As a result they are not going to consider this application. I believe my application with Santander had similar problems. The website was extra glitchy and I would not be surprised if my browsers filters completely removed the verification questions. On that app I did not fill any in.

Was it for Santandar bank's checking account or credit card?

Re: Method to Recon FNBO - And Is this Legal?

I were you, I would send the latest copy of my Ex report, legible color copy of DL, Utilitity bill, SS card, and paystubs...and not necesarily but if are comfortable sending bank statements (for 2 months) or tax transcripts (for  2 yrs) then it would be very beneficial. just mail them back with denial letter. If you dont want to send bank statements and tax transcripts then its fine but just send all other documents by snail mail...you have nothing to lose..Just try...who knows it might yield to an approval...

Meanwhile, get your reports from all other secondary agencies and see any discripancies in there in your name spelling or in your address and correct them up for any future apps...

That sucks for sure, but unfortunately I believe that they only have to give you one reason for the denial, there may be more but I dont think they have to provide them and most decisions are subjective on what they deem as a fitting applicant.

Have you ever had any issues with identity verifcation in the past when applying for something?

I don't think it is quite that simple, they can indeed deny you for any non-prohibited reason, but once they make a claim based on a credit report, the FCRA requires them to supply the name of the reporting entity:

• You must be told if information in your file has been used against you. Anyone who
uses a credit report or another type of consumer report to deny your application for credit,
insurance, or employment – or to take another adverse action against you – must tell you,
and must give you the name, address, and phone number of the agency that provided the
information

But I think here the situation is different: it's not say "multiple late payments" in which case that would need to be backed up.   You "merely" haven't provided information that makes them sure of your identity, there isn't a place that has negative info.

Very true I guess my point was they can claim they can't validate one's identity and cited Experian as the source , not sure how you can fight it even though it makes no sense . That's kinda is what I meant they can shoot out whatever reason they want , but if they used another source they have to supply that information .

I had issues from some lenders citing the could not verify my identity through TU and everything is accurate on my file .

In the past I have had identity questions that did not have any correct answers for me and failed approval. Will say not one of the ID questions came from any credit report! Also will add the letter of denial never referenced any other resource than the credit report. FNBO was an example where I told them the info they used was wrong and they switched to questions right from the credit report and I passed! Different strokes for different folks! Will add that US Bank has never approved me for any product except in person at a branch (been their customer for years). So the bottom line is, the only thing we are sure of is we are sure of nothing! Smiley Surprised
