Might have just messed up

Hey All,

Was going to wait for new w2 to hit the luv button with BOA, buuuuuuuuutttt I didnt. Got a 7-10 day message. They've been offering me all kinds of new cards and put that luv button in my account. I thought, why not? I started with 2500. Requested 10k, got 6700. That was in Aug. Today, about 30 min ago, hit the button. Put my actual 2015 w2 amount which was more than u had entered last time. Not by a lot, think I had just calculated my income. I shot for 13.5k. A lot, I know. I always hear shoot for the stars them and it worked before.

Sigh....Probably a denial. I'm too scared to talk with uw. Not important enough to be scrutinized over. Only thing I can think of is I added new car loan and rent a tad higher. Maybe they don't like my dti or something. Oh well. Smiley Sad

Re: Might have just messed up

It's all relative to what you make and feel comfortable with when it comes to specifying a limit to shoot for.  You won't really know what the outcome is or is based on unless you  talk to them and since  you took a HP for the CLI it's worthwhile to at least figure out what they're looking for.  It's possible that since you got bumped to 6700 it might have been too recent since then and they just want to see more time.

Re: Might have just messed up

I've seen members get the 7-10 message, only to log into their account days later and see a nice limit increase. It's not over till the mail man drops off the denial letter.
They seem to be doing more manual reviews lately. Maybe it's just that time of the year? I got a 7-10 message recently. That's after being bombarded for months with offers. Some of those were preapprovals to apply for another card with BofA. Friday you may get a nice surprise..who knows.

Re: Might have just messed up

Thx guys. Gmood1, would be shocked to see it go thru, but fingers crossed. The link is still in my acct, so I don't know if that actually means anything. It went away as soon as my last increase went thru, which was minutes last time.

Re: Might have just messed up

I have the link still hanging on mine to after requesting an increase last week. All of these CC companies are doing a ton of transactions this time of the year. Got my fingers crossed for you.

Re: Might have just messed up

7 days would be Friday for me. They let me know in a letter yesterday that some of my limit was moved to the Merrill Lynch card and why. They gave me $10k on the ML last week and my last increase hasn't been 90 days ago. I'll wait 90 days before I try to increase Cash rewards again. I haven't received a true denial from them though for trying to raise the Cash rewards limit. There also wasn't another pull. Apparently they used the same EX pull instead of pulling my TU as usual.

Re: Might have just messed up

Ive only banked with BofA and up until now (3 years). Got my first and only cc with them as well, ($500 secured in April,2015) I had appled for a CLI this April and had been denied. I had never missed a payment and generally kept my util to below 15%. Magically, 2 weeks later got approved for a 2k limit and card automatically converted to a regular cc.
Last week got a special offer for the BofA travel rewards card and applied online, got approved for only 3k, called BofA to recon for SL as Chase had just approved me for a 15K CSP and the credit analyst told me they're just a lot more cautious nowadays and to reapply in 6 months. Tried calling in again and the next analyst told me the same thing.
I'm guessing BofA is just really conservative when it comes to CLIs?

Re: Might have just messed up

Actually, BOA is known for being very generous when you take a pull for a cli. I think I just hit the button too fast. Probably needed to wait 6mos, not 3. Still waiting for denial or something, so we'll see.

Gmood1, did you end up getting the increase?
