i got a good amount of cards with the same income when I started. Amazon, I do not think is subject to 5/24. Get your utilization down imo that's gonna help big time.
@Gregory1776 This is interesting. Would getting the util down by removing myself be better than the drop of AAOA that follows? A lot of this score stuff is still a mystery to me. First card opened 2021, first student loan account 2018, lease 2015, AU account 2009.
I don't remember what my account age was when I got my accounts. But it is definitely a small part. account age is a very small part of your score, and I don't think banks really care about it.
they want to know your not in over your head and can pay back your debt.
@Gregory1776 Thank you! ☺️ Good to know. I will look into requesting an AU removal Monday.
Feels like every time I have the cards/rewards figured out I've missed something.
It looks like Connect only requires the rewards center for 5x on prepaid hotels and car rentals. So if I book a hotel and flight directly thats 4x points but its capped at $1000 per quarter, is this right? Or does the cap only apply to Gas/EV? 😖 Almost feels like I need an Excel sheet to keep track of all this.
Edit: Never mind, read the fine print. Cap is for gas.
Quick Update:
Thanks to everyone for the helpful assistance! Spoke to AU before statement close last week, they are considering moving next month so made a larger payment than anticipated, which brought overall util down to 28% for me. (family member, wish they had mentioned this before
) Didn't remove AU account. TU has fully updated with a 32 point boost to 716 , EQ and EX still in progress. All should be around 716 by Tuesday....unless bureaus update on the weekend but I don't think so. 🤔
USB will likely pull TU for Connect but Citi and Chase could pull from who knows what and/or double pull so will wait for applications but feeling a smidge better about profile. Might hold off on Citi depending on how Connect application goes. Would love to try for Connect/Go all at once but not sure if that'll work. (heck not even sure Connect will work out even with pre-approval) CC was only going to be used for dining but account consolidation is preferable and I don't have any sort of relationship with Citibank atm so that would be one more account/login.
Just go for what your spending needs are first, best card. Maybe a good SUB, double up with a new checking account SUB that you finance with that new CC?

@ElvisCaprice Done 🙃 Not quite ready to post in approvals as unsure of details on Connect, still waiting for EQ/EX to update for Amazon app. Was thinking too hard and overcomplicating things. Had to adopt a KISS method. (Keep It Simple Sexy)
USB Connect/Chase Amazon/USB Cash+ would be ideal for current and future spend habits. Started working on $350 Smartly checking offer with USB a few weeks ago. Finally, after over a year prequalified offer for Amazon Prime is showing. If I can get Cash+ now great, if not I'll try again around March.
Congratulations, nice!!!

@ElvisCaprice Thank you! 😄
Am I following this correctly that you got approved on a US Bank Altitude Connect with high 600's or just over 700 score, a sub $50K income, and late payments on your report? What limit did they give you?

@Jazee You are correct and I've been thanking my lucky stars ever since! Also applied for Cash+ which has been pending since Monday. 28% util, 716 TU, $40k income (part-time work/student), 5 lates from 2018 (although account was PIF one month after last late), $2k limit. Which I have come to greatly appreciate bc it could have easily been $500 and wouldn't have covered the hotel or flight for my trip.
If you're on the verge of applying good luck!
