I keep trying capital one as my 1 year CO anniversary was 10/31/2020. But they are continuing to deny me due to previous default with them. Originally the account was with synchrony bank (Walmart) but at the end of 2019 cap one took over those accounts. I was in default with sync and cap one assumed the account. So I have a $1,500 CO with them and they are holding a grudge. 
Ive tried the prequal site and their auto navigator just to see if they would accept anything from me. I get the same denial reason. Past account in negative status with them. Or some type of wording like that.

I know it's pre-approved, but it's $59 for not much credit. I got one in the mail, too. I'd rather wait to get a good secured card which I want to keep. Which can graduate 🧑‍🎓. 1 eventual pull which would be worthwhile and I can do a PC later. Thanks so much for posting about this because it helped me clarify that I'd recycle the paper and toss the offer. 🙏🏻

Yeah In the beginning of my rebuild Merrick gave me a sl of 550 and 7 months later doubled to 1100 and kept giving auto increases:

MERRI CLI 6-14-19* 1100 L550(+550) 7 mth
MERRI CLI 11-01-19* 1300 L1100(+200) 4 mth (11mth)
MERRI CLI 8-01-20 1600 L1300(+300) 9 mth (1 yr 08 mth)
MERRI CLI 12-01-20 2000 L1600(+400) 4 mth (2 yr 1 mth)

Total of 4 auto increases in 2 yrs.
