Month long app and whether to let it keep going

I'm new here and I'm sorry in advance if I put this in the wrong forum.

I wanted some advice on whether I should just keep waiting or ask for this app to be cancelled.

I applied on June 30 for the Drury Hotel card.  I didn't hear anything, so I called July 2nd and was told to wait for the mail.  I didn't hear anything until my mail arrived on July 11 asking me to call in.  They wanted me to send in my ID or anything with my address on it, so I fax it (ID, insurance card, cellular bill and my chase statement).  On occasion, I get ID questions because I am a Jr and some banks (like commerce) do not have a spot for a suffix on the app.

I receive and email on July 12 that said "you are approved" with my CL.

Today I called to see the status of the card because I haven't received it in the mail and I am transferred to the security department who said my card is on hold for extra security checks.  She said it is because they had fraud apps recently in my area and then said or it could be your suffix.  So clearly she doesn't know.  She said "it'll probably show up in two weeks."

I was also told that to make my bonus, the clock started on the date of the app (June 30).

So at this point I'm wondering if I should keep riding this out or cancel it because at some point I won't be able to make the spend for the bonus.  Since this is the second time now my app is in "security."

Thanks for any advice

You need to call ASAP today and then call them again tomorrow morning so you know they have eyes on the application, don't be passive about letting resolution dragging out 30 days else you risk having them punt on day 31.

So keep calling even though the security department sounded annoyed with me calling them today?

IME they probably didn't sound as annoyed as you will be if they tell you next week they're sorry but can't process the application because it's more than 30 days old and you'll need to reapply.

Did they give you an explanation and status or did they blow you off?

Re: Month long app and whether to let it keep going

I received a letter to send in something with my address on it to confirm over two weeks ago. I sent in 4 different pieces of verification and received an approval email the next day and a “welcome” email a few days after that.

Since the card never came I called and was back in the “security” department. Always getting transferred. The excuse is “we’ve had a lot of fraud apps from your state” but the other person said it is because I’m a “Jr” and their apps don’t have a spot for a suffix. I guess I’ll call again tomorrow and Monday and then just call and tell them I don’t want the card after that point. I’m holding off paying some bills to put on the card to make the bonus.

I was denied on my commerce app because my reports have a suffix but their online app didn’t allow me to put it in as well. I’m currently stuck in security hell as well.

I’ll give up as well in a few days as it’s getting annoying they can’t get their act together.

I’m still “approved” but now my account and card haven’t been shipped (on hold with security department) because I live on a military base.

Reason #4 now
28 days and counting
