Right now the status line shows 3 apps because I had 2 on January 3rd and 1 on January 15.
If I wait until February 4th, it should have only the most recent January 15th application, right?Yeah, you should be ok then. I have a feeling my app will end up denied as well but only time will tell.
Great thanks!
After googling around a bit, it seems quite a few people have been able to successfully recon via SM, so I am going to try that route first.
I figure given how many people way over 5/24 got approved for this (after several days so obviously manual reviews) there is still a strong possibility.
All in all I think there is enough reason there to give it a shot. I was expecting an inquiry in the first place, so no harm in asking for a legitimate consideration, don't you guys agree?
Got a 2nd SM reply asking me to call Customer Care, so I did that just now and it actually sent me to Lending Services.
Polite guy on the line said that the recon was denied for "time since last account opened too recent".
I asked him to clarify, as my most recent Chase account was opened 10 months ago if there is a 1 year policy or something, and he said that the rep who looked at the reconsideration request must have felt that they want to see more time of using my existing 2 Chase cards before further credit is extended.
Guess I can always send a physical letter...

It may not necessarily be your most recent account with Chase, but just in general too many new accounts. Once you get denied for that it's typically very hard to get around even on non-5/24 cards....Chase lending is pretty strict.
Physical letters seem to work well with Citi; not so sure with Chase.
You already have a FU card, and we don't even know for sure what's going to happen with the Fairmont. There's no rule that says it has to become a Chase card down the road. It's always possible it would just be entirely discontinued and the cards closed -- this does happen, too. They could also move it to another bank. By the time something happens, you could be 5/24 compliant anyway. There's so much uncertainty with this strategy that I'd just suck this one up and move on.

I would probably keep calling another one or two times but at same time sending out a physical letter.
Also you can try asking them to move a 5k CL from your existing cards to open this card. Good luck!
I have like 8-9 Chase cards. CSR opened in Nov via in-branch pre-approval and Fairmont pending later approved after calling in and moving some credit around.
It's definitely possible to get multiple cards within a few months - definitely more so since your last opened Chase card was 10 months ago.
Last resort, you could always wait to get in branch pre-approval for some good chase branded cards if you open a new checking or saving account with them.
