Done JagoSmiley Happy. You know its time to turn in the credit keys when a 740 cant get you more than $300 from Synchrony, or a 759 cant bump up a $500 credit card. Heck , my Eq is 769 right now, actually had a 801 Fico 9 at one point , 2 year on time payment history with Penfed on my PL and i couldnt even qualify for a new personal loan with them.

I definetely know i need to step back from the game . I cant see the point of having good credit scores if they mean nothing when it comes to credit decisions. As in life money talks bs walks but one day ill find my zen.

Just yestersay i was writing down all my aprs from different lenders and its shocking how high these cards can be so i see inherent danger carrying debt with cards that have high apr. Luckily my current debt rides on 0% apr for now .

Yeah, that is my  goal as well, have all the card paid off before my 0% apr runs out, I still have about 11 months at this point, but i dont want to be on the wrong side of that debt either. PF did just lower my CR to 11.49% so that is nice, but still more than i want to pay.

My F9's arent that high, i'm around 710.  The only reason i got on my denial letter was too many inq's and new accts.. I have to stop Smiley Happy

Well said AJC. It’s puts it all into prospective. I myself have wasted 5 hp’s on them this year alone either going after increases or the elusive 3rd Card. Neither of which in all honestly I need at this point. And totally agree this site can be addictive at times to the point to where we can become blind to our “own” personal credit awareness as “we” know what’s the very best for “us” in maintaining our credit health. All the best to you my friend as I am on credit lockdown myself with a 2020 mandate of no apps or hp’s to be had. This will all be an afterthought  to us in a little while.😉

Thank you BruisedSmiley Happy

Indeed, no one knows the future, i can only hope im still around in 2020 and see some if my Fico Fam coming out with low hp counts and we can lead the new classes to see it is possible with restraint.

Thanks for sharing your data points, @AverageJoesCredit... I know from first-hand experience that it's not nearly as much fun to share the defeats as it is to share the victories, but IMHO often the defeats can be more useful to others.

We don't hear about it too often, but this is a great reminder that while NFCU usually pulls TU/EQ, that they can pull EX if the others are unavailable.

Hang in there, my friend... you've made fantastic progress and I'm sure when the time is right the more 'stubborn' lenders will reward your hard work!  Smiley Wink

Re: My crazy Navy app that has led me 0/24

Thanks for sharing AJC. When I came here in 2015. I got the fever to get my scores up and get all kinds of cards and high limits and so on. I didnt even know about FICO scores. Then reality sets in. Wait dummy. There's no need to have so much. Get what you need so anything and everything you purchase has a cash back of some sort or some other perk and work off that. There's no way in that hot place I could afford to max out my cards and pay them. Like you in a way. Driving down the credit road here comes that STOP sign. Ok I got it now. I'm done and have to live with what I got. I'm content on the rebuild and this is the way it has to be from here. And let time grow the scores. My little badges below are placed there to help others see it can be done. Not to brag. I'll be 69 when my BK falls off and living off of my pension, SS and 401k plan. I dont care what my scores will be now or then. Retirement is soon after 35 years in F/R and I will enjoy life and not have to get waken up from sleep every 3 night of my life for a 911 call. Sit back and enjoy what you have and go with the flow my man.

I started living responsible this year. I used to think of credit cards as free money and think I’ll pay them back later. Years ago I got a personal loan to pay for the CC’s. Three months later they were maxed again. It’s hard not to think of the mistakes I made and how I could’ve done better but there’s nothing I could do about it so I use it as a lesson. I’m 36 so I’m still young-ish but the lessons I learned will last a lifetime.

These forums are great as it allows me and others to talk about personal finances through annomomity which can be embarrassing and very tough to speak out loud to friends and family. So in many ways it’s therapeutic and it has helped me as it helped you. I admire you sharing something you didn’t want to so I figured I’d share my story. And thank you for responding to my posts when I had questions during a critical time in my financial life.

I know what you mean, everyone I know thinks I have good credit, because thats what they saw. They dont know about my medical issue that has left me rebuilding. Having worked in finance, its embarrassing to be in this position. I know better to keep me out of it, but sometimes life just kicks you in the cahones, points and laughs. Coming on here, I was pretty embarrassed to talk about my finances. But now, im good. I've swallowed my pride and am proud of the work I've put in. Still have a ways to go, but I'll get there, and so will you.

Today was a huge wake up call for me with my credit. I wasnt going to share this but i decided it might help out someone in the future so here goes....

Back on the 10th September i was playing around on my Navy accounts by trying to see if i could get an sp cli on my $500 Plat. Figured its around AR time and my reports are locked or frozen. So aped, they try pulling Eq. Nope. Ok, today is actually 15 days since that request, they normally say you have 14days to unlock your reports gor them to complete the request. They do call too.i just went about my merry ways figuring they'll forget. Hmmm.

This morning my alerts go off someone tried to pull TU! What! I notice Navy snd am like ok , but it was locked so. 2 minutes later, bam my Experisn just changed WTFico!, someone pulled my report, yup Navy but says for a loan . I panic and start freezing my Navy cards and call up Navy to see whats up .Fraud??? I had just happened to unfreeze Ex for something and they just dont give up.

Turns out no fraud, yes this was from that Sept 10 request. I really hate that hp right now but i did it to myself. Approved? Nope, another big fat zero. This was and is my wake up call. My last 3 or 4 hps have gotten me nothing but nothing but rejection. Request for cli anywhere , even Sync are being shot down faster than i can print. I know its my debt to income and i own it. Im hitting the brakes and jumping off the credit train for along while. , preferably 2 years minimum. No more sl requests, no more hp requests, only if an emergency came up.

This site is great and addictive as is the chase for the everlasting creditgobstopper. With my scores i see nothing substantial so ive learned in my case scores are meaningless. Becoming debt free, if ever i can on my income, is of utmost importance. Once i can get to 0, i plan on closing all store cards, any high apr cards as well. I find low apr cards are now a worthwhile goal in case of carrying balances which i hope not to do.

Parting shots, be careful with Navy, they want to hard pull so bad that they will literally chase bureaus to get one if you let them . Live within your means for if you let credit run you instead of you running it, you'll end up like me hoping to catch credit crumbs ftom all the big credit cake being eaten.

So Sorry Buddy D. I can't get 4 out of 5 of my Sync cards passed 10K.  I know you have/had a walmart at 15K and your old navy at 15K My walmart Mastercard, Amazon and my Banana Republic VISA has been 10K for over 2 years now. How did you buddy get your walmart at 15K? My scores are 790 or more, $82482.00 income 1% uti. HUGS BUDDY
