jcp card requirements?

hey so for the last 6 months i have really been focusing on getting my credit back up. right now they are 540-650ish . but i was just sent a preapproval for capital one and i decided to see if i would get it; for which i was approved for $300 with increase in 5 months. but i really want a jcp card as i shop there alot and love the discount. I was orginally going to wait to get my scores up but with the approval from capital one i wonder if i should apply now?

so wondering if anyone knows around what your score needs to be to get approved? is there a checkout preapproval? (found mixed reviews on this) lastly which bureau do they pull from? If im denied how do i contact to ask for a reconsideration?

any advice would be great.

Re: jcp card requirements?

Typically, store cards are easier to obtain than bank cards due to the higher interest rates. Synchrony Bank backs the JCPenney store card. I do not know who they pull from for JPC however for my three Synchrony accounts they pulled from TU and EQ.

Your FICO credit scores are not just numbers, it’s a skill.

Re: jcp card requirements?

I got a JCP card a couple of weeks ago & they pulled EX. I got the card @ the register but clerk said nothing about a pre-approval. My score was > 700 so I don't know if that DP helps you. Good luck.

Re: jcp card requirements?

The UW for Sync store cards is pretty lax. My first credit card was their AE store card, and they pulled my TU, which was around 650 at the time.

Unfortunately, Synchrony doesn’t do recons, so if you are denied the decision will stand.

Good luck!

JCP was one of my first non-rebuilder cards in my rebuild.   My score was probably slightly north of 600 on TU and I was approved with a $250 CL.   It's definitely grown over the years.
