NASA Denial.. Has my "Rocket Crashed" back to earth

Smiley Sad Smiley Sad Smiley Sad

I app'd for the NASA card and I was hit with "Thank you for applying for a NASA Federal Credit Card. At this time, we are unable to approve your application. You will receive a letter via U.S. mail outlining the reasons for this decision."

Is there a recon for this bank?

Feeling sick....

NFCU Cashrewards $20,500 ~ NFCU LOC $15,000 ~ Chase Southwest $9,800 ~ Discover IT $500 ~ Hilton Honor Amex $1,000 ~ MILITARY STAR $6,900 ~ USAA Classic $500 ~ Macy's Store Card $3,200 ~ Mercury Visa $3,450 ~ Amazon Prime $2,200

In order to recon, you have to send a letter and they have a committee that reviews them.  They meet infrequently and it normally does not work.  Don't want to be harsh but your scores are somewhat low for NASA as they are much more conservative than NFCU.

Least it should only of been a SP against you EXP if this is your first time applying for it..  Yes like Irish said NASA compared to NFCU is alot touger in UW standards..  Also since the initial app craze last year they really tightened up their UW standards as well as alot of people that got approved then would not of been approved under the new tougher UW..

So long story short, probably no harm done!Smiley Happy

Re: NASA Denial.. Has my "Rocket Crashed" back to earth

Crazy, Nasa approved me for 20k turned around and Penfed laughed at me. They let me joined but said I had a recent bk. My bk is 9 years 10 months old. Shouldve waited 2 months. Guess I will do some spring gardening then try NFCU in 2 months.

credit karma has my scores at T.U 637 Equifax 668 but all of my Major cards have my score between 710-730 fico AAoA 7months with 16 inquires T.U & Eq 12 inquires.

Fingerhut $1200 my first credit. Discover it 4.5k, Paypal extras 7.8k, Barclays 2.2k, Walmart 6k, Lowes 25k, Amazon 6.5k Cap1 Q.S 4k, Venture 10k, Voice 10k, Chase freedom 2k Slate 3.5k, 5th 3rd 10k, overstock2.9k, Kingsize 1k. Nasa 20k, NFCU 14k, loc 10k, BBVA 14k, Amex ED 10k, income 76k (I put them in order of receiving them)

What score do you think is needed for a NASA CC approval?  I applied for membership and was accepted about 21 days ago, but chickened out on the CC app.  My Experian is 759, Equifax is 703 and TU is 687.

Its not just score.. You could have a 800 and be declined..  No Derogs anymore persay and not to much available credit or to many new accounts seem to be the main sticking points, score really doesn't make or break you with them, but what is within you CR.

Your EQ score is probably within range at the lower end but there is so much more that they look at, I,e. Inquiries, recent accounts, etc., so it's difficult to give you a complete answer.  The good thing with NASA as mentioned is that if you join and then apply for the card right after, both are usually SPs.

When I app'd i got a pop up asking to apply and if approved I'll be granted membership.  So I guess it was an all in one deal....

Re: NASA Denial.. Has my "Rocket Crashed" back to earth

Thanks all for the feedback -- I think that's why I chickened out in the first place since I just got 3 new accounts (CSP, Freedom, BOA) and do have one old lingering late pay baddie.   But if it really is a SP since I just got membership maybe I should go for it...
