NASA FCU

Applied for membership with NASA FCU this morning and account was approved online within 10 minutes. Immediately app'd for the Cash Rewards CC and was instantly declined.

History:

CC Util = Less than 1%

BK 2009 5+ years old

Perfect History since BK

Discover CL $1,500 Balance $50

Barclaycard Arrival + World Elite CL $6,500 Balance $8

Capital One Platinum CL $5,000 Balance $0

Hope this helps some folks with their decision to app or not.

Sorry to hear about your decline, I was as well.  The one thing missing from your info is your score(s).

What did they give as reasons?  They have clamped down quite a bit since the initial rush

Didn't get one.  The message read that I would receive notice in the mail regarding my application being declined.

Re: NASA FCU

They are an EXP puller, and it may have been the score. But regardless, I applied for membership a few months back hoping to eventually get a card with them, as I heard thru the forum several months back that they were BK friendly with decent limits.

Turns out lately that they are becoming very restrictive, and denying everyone so far with a BK no matter how far out they are. I applied with them back in early Septmeber, and denied for their CC, and only reason was bk, I was also only 1 yr out. I'm thinking I may have jumped the gun on their membership, and don't feel that in 2-4 yrs they will give me a cc. I may close membership. I think at this point I have a better chance of getting DCU and Discover rather than NASA.

I was thinking of closing my account as well.  Does anyone have any experience with NASA offering them a cc down the road after being declined?

If you click further on the message there is like an index card showing info about your application including reasons for denial.

+1

Otherwise, the letter will provide you with those reasons.

Re: NASA FCU

NASA became funny real quick apparently.  I called them everyday for a week because when I uploaded docs they would not get back to me.  I finally became a member.  I signed my mother up and they came back and denied her membership.  My credit score is higher than hers but she's got a lifetime of credit and never misses payments on anything.  I would have thought she would be an instant approval for membership.  Oh well, she's a veteran, there's always NFCU and USAA for her.
