I've had NFCU since 10/7/16 I've seen many posts say that 3 months is when you should request a CLI with them especially IF you check your EQ report and see a recent AR NFCU Inquiry.
So first I went to check EQ and sure enough on 1/07/16 it showed an AR NFCU Inquiry. After seeing this I headed to NFCU and clicked the LUV button. Total monthly income is $4,350. A lot of posts have said to request $25,000 and they will come down whatever amount they see fit. So that's what I did I entered $25k as the requested amount which seems ridiculous because I'd be happy with an increase just from my current 1k limit to even a 2k limit.
I got a message saying this will be reviewed and I should receive a response within 24 hours is this good or bad? I've only read people either get an instant approval or 3-5 day message.
This is not the ideal outcome - it indicates you will receive a hard pull and a human underwriter will be reviewing your application. It by no means indicates you will be declined, simply that you are going for manual review.
If it doesn't go well and you decide to try again at the next AR (which will happen the first week of March), don't manually enter $25k, instead just click the Max button and let them tell you how much you qualify for.
Good Luck!

Ugh that's not what I wanted at allI really just wanted a SP and if they approve it good if not I'll survive I've had like 10 HP's in the last year they hurt!
Hmm I wonder why all these posts recommend entering 25k manually? I thought that was the norm so that's why I did it. Like you enter 25k and they say well we will give you 5k you know?
Most of those posts were from before the max button existed ![]()
I wouldn't sweat it, what's done is done - they'll review, and likely counter with what they're willing to give you
And if the answer is zero, just chill until either the March or May AR, and try again - I can tell you from what I've noticed (and personally experienced) it's not uncommon to go to manual review the first time you ask, then sail through a SP increase on the next AR.
Good Luck!
Don't be too concerned about entering $25k instead of using the new 'max' button... I have a feeling using 'max' actually just enters a high figure on the back-end systems, anyway.
I used the 'max' button for my own CLI request back in September (my first time requesting a CLI with them) and it also immediately went to review. They did a HP, and made my new credit line $20k (which is actually what I wanted). I was a bit surprised a few days later to get a letter in the mail stating that they were unable to grant my request as submitted, but were offering to make my CL $20k instead and to call if I wanted to reject this (keep in mind I didn't enter an amount - I used the 'max' button).
I'll also add that I did my request on a Sunday, and didn't see the increase until late in the day on Tuesday, which is longer than it takes for most people (I had already decided it was denied). So if you don't see an increase on your dashboard right away don't fear the worse... they just sometimes take a little longer than usual.
Good luck! ![]()
OP I wouldn't worry too much. NFCU is a great partner and you will see amazing growth in the CL over time. One HP isnt going to be the end of the world. If they say no just wait a few months and then request again shortly after the AR. We have seen great growth with our NFCU accounts even when other banks have given modest CLI or none at all. Time between HP's is important so if you are going to go for the CLOC you might as well go for it now, it will result in another HP but I found grouping my inquires and then gardening is a good way to go. Not an expert but its worked for me and the NFCU CLOC is awesome to have available.
