I have a question for the NFCu folks. I have had the Cash Rewards Card since June 2016. I read the CLI guide so I waited the 3 statements and the AR. I had a starting limit of 15,300. Used it religiously and PIF everytime. TU 696 EQ 684 Ex 746. SO I requested CLI in Sep and was HP. SO I said Ok, I have heard say the CLI will use a HP. So I waited another 2 months for this AR and just requested for another CLI and again recieved the under review. So clearly the AR SP thing is not working for me. Anyone have any information to help me or am I doing something wrong?
Same here , got my acc since june 2016, always get HP ,clearly AR just bs.
It works for alot such as myself was intially approved for 23.7k when AR came had all CRA's on ice hit the button and instantly got bumped up to 25k. So yes the AR does work. Alot more goes into whether one gets a CLI other the score/usage, etc.. Each credit profile is different along with incomes, etc as the list is pretty much endless. Sorry about the people that have had issues as Navy certainly isn't affraid to HP people, but they do SP's as well and certain way you can ensure you don't get a HP if you don't want one like I did, but obviosuly you might not get the CLI either as a result. Hope this helps
The SP CLI after the AR is clearly YMMV, but it's not bogus. (Enough acronyms in that for ya? LOL)
It does work for quite a few people, but it didn't work for me, either. I also had a credit line of $15.3k, and was approved last November. September was the first time I had ever tried for a CLI.
It immediately went to review, and took not one but two days for them to make a decision. I ended up with both a HP and a CLI of $4.7k making my new credit line $20k - so it was worth it - but I was slightly disappointed that I didn't get the SP treatment.
As a data point, I have a modest income compared to many on here which I feel might have made a difference... with a higher stated income it might have been automatic like so many other report. All I can do is speculate at this point, but income is one area where I might differ from many of the others here. My EQ was in the 740s so I doubt that is what kicked it to manual.

I agree with the ice part if you don't want a HP - we all know NFCU loves HP's... When I got a CLI from 5k ->17.3k, I didnt want a HP... EQ and TU were both pretty icy, asked for max, and that's what I got off a SP (obviously).
I had to laugh, as Barclays that same day had CLD'me from $1k -> $500. Too funny - one lender CLD's me 50%, the other increases me 340% !!!
I would never reply to a forum post, but decided to this time since the subject matter is important, and all too often we take, take, and take, and don't give.
Anyway, I'm in a terrible situation where I have $13.5K in unauthorized charges on on my NFCU Rewards visa....stemming from a Trip in Europe. How did this even happen is irritating, but not really relevant save for the fact that before the trip, my balance was only $4K, and now it is $18K...... My limit prior to 10 minutes ago was $15.5K. I have an AMEX with no limit, and 0 balance on a Dell Credit card with a 4K limit.
While the charges get disputed, I have a car lease ending soon and the over limit situation sank my score 64 points this month! So, after reading this advice on soft pulls, I decided to take my chances and got my limit upped to $25K immediately.
This just happened a few minutes ago. I'm still waiting on my dispute to be resolved and completely reversed, but at least in the meantime I'm not over my credit limits as far as FICO is concerned which probably would've sent me to the used car lot.
My income is above average but not six figures, I don't have any late payments on my credit report, but I have been a member for 22 years, and had the money in my checkings to cover current credit card balance if that matters at all.
Like everyone says, YMMV and Caveat Emptor.
Best of luck.
If you're re-leasing and score went down 64 points but you never paid your lease late then that company will re-lease you 9 out of ten times because of your history with them. If you went into a purchase the only thing it would affect would be interest rate.
