If I had to do it again, I probably would have gone that route...

Also, you do have the option to pick visa or MasterCard.

Good luck!  I'm sure you'll be very happy with them!  3 months from now you could be like me and sitting with a second unsecured card with a 6900 CL!  I've just moved a bunch of high interest balances over for 0 percent balance transfer so thrilled with that!

Cheers!

When I applied for my cashRewards card a couple months ago, there was no option to select which network to be on from the application on the website.

So when I applied for the nRewards, it had a screen  asking whether you wanted Visa or MasterCard.

However, I wasn't given the option when I applied for the platinum card earlier this week.

Could be they took the option off or perhaps it was a secured card thing.

Regardless, it sounds like you can call in and request a change from visa to MasterCard after you've opened your account.  There is a thread on here where someone called in to do that and they cut her interest rate to boot...

Re: NFCU Application Process

I was given the option on My old CashRewards that I PC'd to MoreRewards.

Also when I applied for The Platinum card, it gave me the option.

The Flagship Visa Signature card, I had no choiceSmiley Tongue

You can call NFCU and get the network changed Except for MoreRewards and The Flagship card.

Re: NFCU Application Process

It's been almost a year since I  was approved for the CR CC. I'm pretty sure I wasn't given the option to choose between Visa or Mastercard.

Interesting seeing some were able to pick and some not.

NFCU Cash Rewards 16K CL
Citi Custom Cash 7.5K CL
AODFCU Visa Sig 5K CL

@Mr_Mojo_Risin, Now you understand the term "YMMV"Smiley Very Happy

For @TJN  the OP: (Welcome to the Forum!)

I have read where people were turned down, not offered the secure card "nRewards"

called in ans was able to get the "nRewards" secure card on the same HP.

One thing I might add, I am not so sure "if" you had burned NFCU in the past and did not rectify that,

or having something very derogatory on your report. Those type of things would stop them from offering that card.

As in all cases, "YMMV" ...
