NFCU Application nervous

So I got emailed an invitation to apply for the NFCU Cash rewards card today...

I was laid off about a year ago and have been rehabbing my home in order to sell it (as I recently accepted a job 80 miles away). Ive put in almost 100k in renovations (which according to the realtor I should easily be able to get back) 70k of that has gone on cards as I have been hording cash to wither the storm.

My TU fico on here is 692
DTI 48%
my Utilization is 37%

Have plenty of cards with 25-30k limits. 1/2 of the cards are either at 0 or 2.99% while the other half is at 14-16%. I applied for the card, and it wasnt an instant decline. I put a request in for a 30k balance transfer of the high cards which would lower my DTI upon approval by 4% and my utilization by 6%

Here is to hoping that they approve the app. If not anyone have any good recon stories just incase? I have 20k in cash left in the bank, I am planning on moving some of it to Navy tomorrow (hopefully before the UW see's the app)

Re: NFCU Application nervous

Woke up to two enails from NFCU. One was an app statis update (logged in and was declined) and one that was about 3 minutes later from the initial 3am app update that said "we have completed a second review of your application and want to congratulate you, your application has been approved for $4,200". While im excited that im in with NFCU and know it will grow quickly (especially when I sell the house in a couple months and pay off everything I owe) but am I crazy to ask for more to complete the chase $21,000 balance transfer???

Re: NFCU Application nervous

Congrats on getting the Navy approval. Since it looks like it may have been originally denied, then approved after they took a second look (they do seem to try to help if they can), it may be a stretch for them to extend more of a limit to you right now

I wouldn't ask for more right now. At 91 days ask for more Smiley Wink Congrats!

Congrats.  You're in with Navy Fed now.  I too wouldn't advise a recon for a higher SL given you were declined originally and then approved.  I would take it as it is now and then work towards the CLI at either the 3 month + 3 statements + AR mark or at the six month mark.

Re: NFCU Application nervous

That particular BT offer will probably be gone by then BUT NFCU offers the 2.99 BT offer for new AND existing customers at least annually from what I've seen. The had a 2.99 offer that started in January 2017 and ended in early March. I guess there are no guarantees but it will probably be back. I like how they make that offer available to existing and new customers. There aren't many institutions that do that.

Re: NFCU Application nervous

Thats fantastic! My one credit union runs a 1.99% offer 1ce a year for 12 months and a 2.99 offer for 12 months 2-3 times a year. The problem is if you have less than a 740 getting a healthy credit line out lf them is like pulling teeth.
