I currently have an nRewards Secured CC through NFCU; my 6th statement cuts tomorrow. Began with a $200 limit, and they bumped me to $600 after the 3rd statement cut. I've made heavy use, but always PIF before the statement cuts. Anxiously waiting to see if I will graduate, which leads me to my first question. I've seen some posters mention that their nRewards converts to a cashRewards. If that happens, will a new account number be issued? If so, does the history convey with the new card, or is the nRewards effectively closed and a new card issued? In a rebuild from a Chap 7 BK that discharged a year ago today and am thinking about AAoA.
Dithering about whether I should try for a 2nd card after my statement cuts. I just re-financed my car which dinged my score about 20 points. The finance company receiving the pay-off reported the loan paid in full, and there was a lag between that and the new company reporting the new loan. It's come back about 15 points. My current scores are as follows:
Fico 8
EX: 639
EQ: 638
TU: 637
DTI about 27% right now. So should I risk the pull after my statement cuts, or wait a while? So far, NFCU has been absolutely awesome.
@msml_2020 Just be careful and make sure you have 6 FULL statements A day to early even and it may be denied so just make sure your first statement has an amount due and spend on it, if not wait out for the next statement and a few days after ^^
I will tell you my experience. I also have a ch 7 bk. When my secured card graduated, everything stayed the same on my report, it was not a new account it kept the same history as secured. I can't remember if the account# was different or not but they did send me a new card (the green cash rewards card). I ended up PC'ing that to a More Rewards but through all those changes the account history on my report is still the same for this card.
As far as a second card, here is my NFCU timeline:
March 2019 - approved for secured card $300
September 2019 - secured card graduated to $2000 limit
October 2019 (1 year post bk) - applied for 2nd card - denied
January 2020 (15 months post bk) - applied for 2nd card - approved $12,500 limit

Did you have a relationship with NavyFed before your BK? I'm 14 months post BK7 discharge(15 come the 29th), and opened up my checking/savings accts in June 2020 before applying for the secured card in September. Hindsight, I should have gotten the card in June, as I'd be at 6 months in December.
Trying to gauge expectations as we have similar scores. I'll be 91/3 on December 5th, and itching to apply for a 2nd but thinking I should wait til April 2021 after my 6th month.
@WavysMommy No, I didn't have a relationship with them prior to the BK. I joined in June, 2020, and got the secured card immediately. Didn't even try for non-secured.
