NFCU CLI Denial. Help. 711 FICO

Well, after waiting my 92 days, I was denied a CLI on my CashRewards card. I need your input people....In the past I was denied due to "account too new" but this time today was a flat out denial from the AR soft pull done on July 4th. This is bad for me because my util at the time of that AR was high on my NFCU card ($2700 out of $3000) and my FICO was 638. Since then, my util last statement was 25% and at this moment my balance on my NFCU card is zero. I run about $3500 through it each month and PIF several times. I have no derogs or lates or baddies. 5 INQ' last 1 year.

My FICO 08 right now is 711 (just checked) and my FICO 09 is 733 !!!!!! I have over $10,000 in my checking and savings.

Should I do another CLI but this time force a HP by asking for 50k? Should I call in and ask for a HP? Secure message HP request and recon? Should I app for 2nd card? Thank you

Wow I'm really sorry..Smiley Sad

I had read several posts about this happening with the 91 day mark requests so I waited til almost 6 months.

My score was 745 IIRC at the time & zero bal, total uti1%. I asked right after the AR and got the CLI I requested and a second card.

Perhaps Navy is just tightening up a bit- you can recon but it's looking like they want about 6 months for all but the strongest profiles imho.

Good Luck!!

Re: NFCU CLI Denial. Help. 711 FICO

Its odd because 2 diff reps told me 90 dsys is OK for requesting the CLI. It looks like a 126k income and a misleading high util on my AR pull is what did it. Im thinking to try ahain and force a hard pull.

May I ask why the rush to get a CLI right now?  There will be another AR later in the month that will be posted in early September.  Chances are you would have better odds of success then but you might have messed up your opportunity.

Valid question - I am impatient Smiley Happy kidding...nfcu reports on the 19th for me. I am apping for a mortgage soon and the bigger CL will bring my util down and score up even more. If I dont get it before then, Ill have to wait another month for the report (nfcu is my largest tradeline @ 3k SL). Other reasons as well but using the line not being one.

Re: NFCU CLI Denial. Help. 711 FICO

If you're applying for a mortgage "soon" (6-12 months) then it would behoove you not to add extra inquiries if at all possible let alone a new tradeline.

Keep in mind that just because you may have waited until day 92 does not really translate into an automatic CLI approval.

Lots of variables come into play with NFCU, especially since they've tightened some of their UW criteria since last year.

One more question.  How do you know that Navy used the score from the July AR?  Did they tell you that during recon?

Re: NFCU CLI Denial. Help. 711 FICO

The rep told me that a decision had been made and it was denied. I asked if it was "account too new" denial and the answer was no (theyd be able to see a Too New denial) I ran a credit report on EQ and TU and no hard pulls....So, I can only assume they are using my FICO 9 from 6/26 AR otherwise where would they get my score and report from? From what I read here, I don't think NFCU does softpulls for CLIs other than the AR SP...I guess I could be wrong?

EDIT: I just looked at softpulls on EQ and the only NFCU softpull was 6/26 AR....Im a bit down to be honest because my profile is super clean. 12yrs oldest acct, 3.5yrs AAoA, no lates or derogs, low util, $2,500 in total debt, good income and zero balance on my Cash Rewards.

Still haven't got word about my CLI request and its been 3 days. I'm assuming it's a denial, but figured they would tell me somehow

Re: NFCU CLI Denial. Help. 711 FICO

What about one month before you apply for a mortgage you use more cash and not run $3,500 through the card that one month?  After you successfully close on your mortgage then ask for the CLI, even if it takes a HP.
