NFCU CLI VS NEW CARD

I am familiar with the 91/3 method, but I am confused as to which to try first.  Do I hit the CLI button first or pull the trigger on the new card first.  Currently I have the Go Rewards card $7200.  My 91/3 date will be 07/20/20.

Re: NFCU CLI VS NEW CARD

@Anonymous, General consensus is to apply for a new card first. wait for the Answer >> approved/denied

Then ask for the CLI on exsisting card. This is how I do it with NFCU.

(both can be done on the same day)

Also you can find some good reading here;  >>  my suggestion is to read toward the end... as it is a Long thread.

My 91/3 just passed on 6/18/20.  I apped for Platinum, instant approved 20k SL, then I hit CLI on More Rewards $2,500k increased.  Seems like if you app first, you'll get a higher SL on the card.  GL w/ whatever you decide to do.

After my 91/3 got a CLI approval, but torpedoed afterward for a new card. Hit max unsecured limit for my current profile, but a new card might have had a low SL anyway if I had flip flopped the order. Go for the new card first

Re: NFCU CLI VS NEW CARD

My 91/3 just came a few days ago on my first navy card, a $500 starting limit cash rewards, and I applied for the new card first. I apped  for the flag ship rewards and got instant approval with a $25,000 starting limit. I then hit the CLI button and was given a $1000 increase on the cash rewards, and it's my understanding they limit you to three times your current credit limit anyway.  Incidentally, I requested a $10,000 increase only expecting to get the $1000 so They sent me an adverse action letter telling me they were only increasing me by the thousand dollars because I had reached the internal limit for that car. So I'm assuming the internal limit for any navy card is three times the current limit, but my understanding from reading on these forms is they have a max total limit for all cards. I don't know what that is though. they sent me an adverse action letter telling me they were only increasing me by the thousand dollars because I had reached the internal limit for that card. I don't know what that is though

Re: NFCU CLI VS NEW CARD

I did the reverse, on my 91/3, I requested a CLI only, didn't app for a new cc (only because I was in the middle of a mortgage refi and couldn't app for anything then). 2 weeks later, after closing my refi,  apped for the Flagship, instant approval 25k.
