NFCU CLI

I called NFCU after I tried to apply for A CLI on my Nrewards card online and a condition popped up. It said a condition existed on my account and I had to call in to clear it up. I spoke to a young lady and told her I tried online for the cli and it doesn't work. She went over my job, housing, and paychecks and asked what I wanted to request. I told her $25,000 since that's about what NFCU allows on a soft pull inquiry. She input everything and then said it'll take 2 to 3 hours for the response. I again asked that this wouldn't be labeled as a hard inquiry on my report and she says no its a soft inquiry. Them she tells me to call back in a few hours or check on the app. This sounds like a full credit pull to me. What do you think?

Re: NFCU CLI

it's a hard pill. when you get that notice either clear your browsing cookies, use a private browser or just a new one all together. never call when that happens.

Re: NFCU CLI

It'll be a hard pull. That's why I just let them do auto increases every 6 months so I won't get dinged. I asked for a cli 1 time online and it was a hard pull.

Re: NFCU CLI

It was a hard pull. I'm on the phone with them now, waiting on a manager to answer. I have the representative recorded saying it was a "soft" pull and no inquiry would show on my reports. It was declined from what the rep just told me. I'll see what the manager says.

Re: NFCU CLI

The manager is going to listen to the recording and listen to where I asked numerous times if it would be a hard or soft pull. He says that if he hears that I asked and she told me soft pull no inquiry he will request the inquiry be removed from my reports. I will receive the letter in the mail on why it was denies. Scores are now low 640's across the board and he says that they usually won't increase a card under 13 months old...

Well that manager has no clue what he is talking about! See the above referenced thread for details. And I wish you much success having that hp removed!

Re: NFCU CLI

So your saying that if they say they'll remove it they actually won't?

Re: NFCU CLI

that's not what msbia was meaning. that poster was referring to the manager not knowing because many people get CLIs well before 13 months

Thank you very much Xterror! Exactly. NFCU does a periodic review of your CR usually every 3 months and based off of that there may be a soft pull CLI available to you. So the manager stating no increases before 13 months is factually incorrect. My card started at $12k, three months $18k, six months after that $22k. I have no need to ask for more since I have two cards at that limit and coming up on two years with Navy in April. I hope this helps OP.
