NFCU CLI?

NFCU CLI?

Just wanted to confirm a few things before requesting this CLI w/ NFCU.

1. I opened the account on 3/15, day 90 is tomorrow. Is day 90 the magic day, or is it 91?

2. This is generally a SP, but could be a HP - Correct? If it is a HP, any experience adding CLOC application to the mix?

3. My current CL is $1,300 - should I really be requesting MAX?

4. My 3rd statment ran last week on 6/7 w/ a $120ish balance - should I pay this off before requesting the CLI or is this irrelevant?

I have a large (to me!) purchase I want to place on the card before the sale/stock depletes (tomorrow, can maye stretch to wensday), but don't want to do it until after the CLI..

Re: NFCU CLI?

It is always best to wait until several days past the 90 day mark as we have often seen others be off on their calculations and get a denial . As far as the Sp vs Hp there is no way to know until it happens , if it's an instant approval it's a SP if it goes to review it's gonna be a Hp . It all depends on your profile and internal score with them . I don't think having a 120 balance is too bad but they can been very strict of DTI and UTi so if you have other factors in your reports that would throw that off I would pay it off bf requesting CLI .

As far as the Cloc goes that is a completely different dept and will be always a Hp unless it's piggybacked during an auto loan app . Just bc you get a review for a CLI via Hp doesn't matter u still have to app for the Cloc and it will be yet another Hp , my only complaint about them is that they love to HP no matter the time frame from the last one . I have too many Hps hair from a Navy fed alone .

Re: NFCU CLI?

If I am denied for apping to early, is that a HP? - 3/15 open date is confirmed, I sent a msg last month requesting date info for sign up bonus and they confirmed opened on 3/15.

Re: NFCU CLI?

The next AR is end of June, beginning of July and although there is a possibility of a SP, I always assume a HP with NFCU.

Re: NFCU CLI?

The next AR is literally weeks away so I personally would wait until the next upcoming AR to request a cli. Because if NFCU can increase your limit based on a recent AR that would be ideal. But it's up to you if you want to pull the trigger now or wait.

Re: NFCU CLI?

Agree with Mama_Pearl, id wait a couple weeks more just to better my odds and hit max button. You want to time it more after a AR than before. I tried the before approach and got the too soon letters. If you wait til the first week of Jully, youll 100% know heading in you have the required 90 plus days and you're 3 statement cutsSmiley Wink

Re: NFCU CLI?

The three statements plus 91 days is not really accurate.  You want to apply on day 91 or later but you don't need to wait for the third statement.  Just got a nice CLI for my wife on day 92, 7 days before the 3rd statement cut.

I agree with the folks above that waiting till the AR in couple of weeks is probably the best strategy to avoid an HP and perhaps get the best CLI.  If you need the CLI now certainly go for it but if you can wait that is probably best.

Re: NFCU CLI?

Ohsnaps, at a minimum, please wait for 3 statements to cut plus 91 days. Remember that everyone's mileage may vary. But, you want to be in the best position to get a sizable CLI and not a letter stating, "not enough experience!"

Re: NFCU CLI?

The 3 statement cuts may bring ymmv but i think its a good enough limit to wait to request a cli. Couple days or a week or two is well worth waiting for sum Navy loveSmiley Happy

Re: NFCU CLI?

I say wait for the AR as well. I'll be going for my 90 day CLI once that happens at the end of the month early next month. I'm eligible on the 6/23 but will happily wait for the AR just to be certain I get it! Currently at $14,300 CL and hoping for the max $25,000 CL with a SP!!!

Most should have 3 statements cut before they are at their 90 days anyway. My third statement cut today and my 90 days isn't until the 23rd so...

So, wait for the AR for optimum card stacking in your favor! It can't hurt unless your credit has decreased and this AR will reflect it.
