Hey everyone,
Thinking about finally applying for an NFCU credit card this weekend. I live in MA and have seen many data points indicating that TransUnion will be the bureau of choice which and Credit Karma is showing a 753.
Utilization: 5%
HP: 2
AAoC: 5+ years
100k+ in Currently CLA

Chasing the 25k line eventually with their Flagship card but after reading through the forum it appears that the first CC you get with them doesn't have a huge SL whereas 2nd cards tend to get the bigger lines. This leads me to want to apply for their Cash Rewards CC and then in 3-4 months apply for the Flagship.
Does this sound like a good path to take with NFCU? I've been a member with them for about a month but haven't had any activity besides the initial deposit, should that make a difference? Looking for any helpful advice for my future application, and lastly, do they verify income?
Any advice/datapoints would be greatly appreciated!
I have a gut feeling with those #'s you are a shoe in to get approved.
If you go for it, let us know how you make out
Initial deposit has very little to do with approval of cc or its limit. Your profile and income , along with dti will be biggest factors. Sounds like a good plan .in reality no one knows how much one will receive they will receive upon application but having the opportunity to even be in NFCU is a monster plus. Best of luck

DM never kept much money in her NFCU account first app was for flagship card for 25K @ lowest interest rate. Her SL now is 30K. So honestly if you want the flagship then go for that! everyone's results are different. Don't settle if you are not approved you can use the same hard pull and apply for one of the other cards.
My numbers weren't as strong as yours and my credit profile is relatively new (rebuilding), even still I was able to get approved for the More Rewards card with a $5900 starting limit. I was a member for less than a week when I applied and was still approved. I think you'd have more than a fair shot with Navy.
Good luck with your plan. Keep us informed

Most data points show getting FS is not easy on first try some do but they are the minority. Also Navy does not reuse a hard pull. You might ask for reconsideration if you applied a FS first and are denied to see if you could get a different card but its not a gaurentee they will oblige. Best to recognize a hp with Navy is not s multi purpose inquiry.

I apped Cash Rewards first even though I do not plan to have it as a final card with them. I was not sure how my SL would be due to my bk. Ultimately, I plan to have More Rewards, Flagship, and then I'll PC the Cash Rewards to the Platinum.
I actually ended up getting a decent SL ($3900), so at 91/3 I got the More Rewards at 12.5k and then a 6k increase to $9900 on the Cash Rewards. If I had known I'd start over 3k, I would have just straight apped the More Rewards. But, if I had gotten a 1k limit, I would have likely only gotten 3k at 91/3 which would have kept the card semi-useless for another 180 days. I believe you can move limits via SM, so even if this were to happen, I do not think it's the end of the world. With Flagship in particular, there is the added bar of having to get a 5k SL.
Just a personal choice depending on your needs. I do not carry balances, so I would not need the SUB for the Platinum anyhow, so it worked out.
I'm happy to announce that I was approved for a 3k SL for the Cash Rewards card
Thanks for the advice everyone!
