Sorry to hear that. The most important thing is you’re in with Navy a lot of people aren’t able to do so. Did you inquire about the secured card? That’s how I started my relationship with them.

I didn’t yet. I have the money to get it. They also included in the email that I should try it.

Debating if I should use the money to pay down balances on some of my CCs or get the secured.

What are y’all thoughts? I have around $370 I was gonna use to bring all my balances down to around 18.5%.

Personally, I wouldn’t accept a secured card at the point you’re at normally but NFCU cards graduate quickly and open the door to their other cards which as we all know can be pretty generous so it’s worth considering. 

If your utilization isn’t currently over 28.9%, I would go with the secured card but if it is, pay it down and wait.
