I just joined NFCU today over the phone, then immediately logged into my account and applied for the Cash Rewards. It went into pending
. This could be because I have some supplemental bureaus on ice (Lexis Nexus, IDA/Sagestream, ARS, and Innovis) or they don't like some tax liens that are still reporting on EQ or because they want to verify my income or because I'm extremely hyped about joining. My EQ is currently at 710
What has people's experiences been with pending apps? Verification? Should I be prepared to recon? Should I call right away or wait it out?
Normal for me.
I applied for a card a week after joining and it went to pending. Approved 2 business days later for $7,500.
My husband has been a member since birth... he's now 30. We applied for a card for him (after getting a prequal in the mail) and it went pending... approved 2 or 3 business days later, for $12,500.
My EQ score was lower than yours, his was about the same.
All we had to do was wait. I recommend you do the same. They requested no docs...

thanks for sharing your first hand experience, I will wait it out in hopes of an approval.
I just received a text message from NFCU thanking me for applying and they're reviewing.

My pleasure, and I'm 99% you're going to get approved.
My wife when we signed up, her first CC app went pending for a couple days and was approved at 5k ![]()

They called me this morning and said they had some questions about my application. They called out my income stating they need my monthly income not annual. I told them what I listed was was my monthly income and they asked again several times in which I confirmed several times that it is my monthly not yearly income. They then ask if I'm self employed, I informed them its all normal W2 earnings so they ask for pay stubs. No problem, sent them off, hoping for a response within the next few days.
You should be fine with that score. My score was alot lower than yours and I was approved in October. It did say pending however it was approved an hour later for $2900. 2 months later I got a CLI to $12000 with a SP.
I have good faith in your app. I have the Cash Rewards, EQ in 650's w a year old paid collection. I do have CD's with checking, savings and DD w NFCU though.

I've seen other threads where folks with high incomes were asked for documentation right away, and were rewarded with very handsome credit lines for their trouble; something tells me this will be the case for you! ![]()
I know it's annoying, but I guess rather than 'insult' high net-worth folks with limits that aren't useful, some banks/CUs get the verification out of the way right at the very beginning once the income on a new application passes a certain threshold. I think I remember reading that someone reported with Capital One (specifically) the amount is $200k.
Good luck, and keep us posted! ![]()

I hope they don't insult me like BofA did, I've been sitting on a $1k BBR card for a year and a half now lol
Capital One is the only other bank that has requested proof of income.
