Re: Barclays

Barclay normally likes to see a year of payment and history with another major card before opening their doors. That's only 3 months away. Why not work to get your scores up over the next 3 months and apply at that time? I believe that would increase your chances of success.

Better yet, you can choose to wait 4 months and at that time you will have one year of history with your first card and a full 6 months of history with both Capital One cards. (this only applies if the first card you mention is a major credit card). Your goal is to apply with the strongest possible profile and to maximize your chances of success. Best of luck. Re: Barclays

Try the prequal site. If you get a firm rate and a "Congratulations" go for it. https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/ProactivePrescreenCapture.action

Min. 12 month history and that may not even get you in. I had a 12 month history and the rep on the phone said my history was too short for Barclay Rewards.

I then directly went and apped for the Barclay Apple Rewards Card and got $2,000 CL.

Also, those 500's scores might be a bit low. YMMV.

Agreed. I was approved for  my Apple Rewards card with my Bankruptcy still reporting. It was for 2k and has not moved from that since then. A few months later when my scores had skyrocketed I applied for Ring and was approved for 12.5k so waiting does make a huge difference. I think at some point at the end of this year I will just fold that Apple card into the Ring, if I can't get the credit line raised.
