NFCU Credit Card Application

Good evening everyone. I have been a NFCU member since April 2015. I want to apply for a credit card as well an auto loan and mortgage in the future. My current credit scores are in the high 500s- low 600s. Should I try to apply for a unsecured credit card or play it safe and apply for the secured credit card?

I'm not sure what they look for specifically, but I was just approved for a cash rewards 1k so with sub 600 scores.  I think DTI comes more into play with nfcu card approvals.

Re: NFCU Credit Card Application

I'm currently cleaning up my credit. I have a few more items to take care of. The real bills that I have credit wise is my car note and student loans.

Yes you can get approved with sub 600 scores but only if your DTI and UTi is on poInt , they really focus on that

Thanks for your input. I'm going to pay my CC down to zero balance and then apply.

Re: NFCU Credit Card Application

Just like everyone else said, DTI and UTI seem to playa big factor into their decisions. My TU was a low 600 but I have great DTI and my UTI was <10%.
