NFCU Denial Help

Hiya,   I have been with NFCU about a year now.   I have the Platinum for a year at around 10,500 limit and the Flagship at 15,000.     I have CLOC at 15K also.   I have been preapproved for a personal loan but dont need nor want to apply.

I have tried to apply for a third NFCU CC and i have gotten "you dont meet our underwriters criteria."    No credit pull was done, so not sure why the denial.  I have had the Platinum a year and the flagship about 4 months now.  Flagship was a preapproval.

Welcome to MyFICO

You don’t provide any info—scores, UT, AAOAs, income.

It is possible that you have met the internal maximum amount that NFCU will allow for unsecured credit based on your income and other credit factors.

Once you provide additional info, we can delve into the reasons for denial a little more.

|| AmX Cash Magnet $40.5K || NFCU CashRewards $30K || Discover IT $24.7K || Macys $24.2K || NFCU CLOC $15K || NFCU Platinum $15K || CitiCostco $12.7K || Chase FU $12.7K || Apple Card $7K || BOA CashRewards $6K

I think you were applying to close to your flagship.  They have given you three credit products for $40,000 in credit in the past year.  I would wait until your Flagship is at least 6 months old before trying again.  A full year may be the safer bet.  You could try recon and ask that they take some money from your CLOC and apply that to your third card.  I just think you are at your maximum exposure with Navy for the time being.

If they didn’t pull your credit, you applied too early for the third card. Try again 181 days after opening the second.

40k in Navy credit is pretty good by any standard. As stated, you either applied to early, or you are at the max they are willing to extend at this time. Though Navy is generous, approval for 3 cards or high limits is not necessarily a given though many expect so. Try again in Msrch next AR you might have better shot since you will have 6 months on your 2nd card.

I think everyone is correct in that i should wait 6 months.  It was over 6 months from when i was approved for the Platinum and got the preapproval for flagship.  Makes Sense.

AAOA = 4 years 9 months.    Oldest account is 14 years

Sorry to veer a bit offtopic but how did you learn you were "pre-approved"?
