Any one have any experience with NFCU pre approval on their web sit.
last year I was emailed an offer from the NFCU but when I tried their pre approval it said I was only approved for their secured card I've checked their pre approval site every 6 months but it only shows only a secured card. I really don't want to waste a hard pull
here's my back ground info.
I filed Bankruptcy in Feb 2021 and it was discharged in May 2021 I paid all my cards and loans on time until the day I filed Bankruptcy.
since I filed Bankruptcy I've started my path to rebuild my Credit.
After my bankruptcy discharge I got a Unsecured Credit One card with nice SL
then a month later I got a Mercury Card with a nice SL. I waited till 4/2022 to apply for a few more cards I first got a Unsecured Capital 1 card with a higher limit then the card I had with them when I filed bankruptcy then I got a Unsecured Discover it card in June 2022 then in December 2022 Capital 1 offered me a unsecured Savor card with a high SL.
mall my cards have low balance or no balance. And capital 1 just tripled my Quicksilver card limit out of the blue on there own.
I want to get a Navy fed card everyone says they are great. And then I'm going to cancel the Credit one and Mercury card.

I would imagine an emailed offer means a lot more than the pre-qualify tool
the pre-qualify tool isn't any good, I wouldn't put much stock into it. It wouldn't surprise me if you threw $1000 into savings if you'd pre-qualify for everything
if you want the card, you're going to have to take the risk, what's your TU Fico 9, recent accounts, any baddies?
Sorry I just edited my original post to add my back ground info.

We would need to know your FICO scores and more information.
But no matter what, if you don't want to waste a hard pull, don't apply. No one is going to be able to give you any assurances. If you just want to know if NFCU's preapprovals are reliable, no they are notoriously unreliable.
thanks for the response Sorry I been real busy working and family stuff.
I ended up saying screw it applying for the Cash rewards card today.
And the approved me guess there pre approval isn't reliable.
I wish I tried for the Go-rewards card Instead lol as it had a 1.99 rate for 9 months but figured the cash rewards card would be easier to get as a foot in the door.
now I'll cancel my Credit one card and maybe my Mercury card.
thanks all for the responses.
WOW, congrats! Can you give details about your credit history and your current credit scores? I have (3) TransUnion inquiries on my record and have a 694 FICO8 with a fairly low DTI. I do have a $4500 charge-off that just hit 6 years, so it's older. I have received email offers for the same card, but hesitant to pull the trigger. My income is $65k/year and I don't wanna apply and get approved for a low limit. I have banked with them for over 6 months and have multiple CD's and direct deposit.

Wow, thats incredible considering your bk was only 2 years ago. my bk7 was dc in dec/2019 and my sl's were tiny compared to yours, 3700 cr and 1k plat. I have been able to grow them to 21,700 and 9k but they refuse to lower my interest rate below 17.99 .
You must have mega income
