NFCU Recon

So, this past Friday I applied for a Go Rewards card. I was not approved. I can understand as my uti is relatively high. Anyhow, I sent an email explaining the temporary nature of the high uti based on my past spending patterns, I sent a copy of my paycheck to prove my income, explained my bk back in 2012, told them I'm looking for a good long term relationship with NFCU and I said even if I was still declined, if I could be considered for their secured card. I mean, I already took the hard pull so I'm trying to get something out of it if possible. Not that I expect a favorable decision, just trying to make the best of the hard pull.

I received this in response:

"Thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention and allowing us the opportunity to respond. Your denial letter has been mailed to your address of record. We ask that you allow at least 7-10 business days to receive it before requesting a reconsideration/appeal. All requests must be received within 30 days of the original application. Since your disapproval letter contains the detailed information as to why you were originally disapproved, we encourage you to wait for the letter to be received prior to proceeding with your additional request."

I sent my email this past Saturday since I'd seen others recon pretty quickly. I got NFCU's response Sunday (6/18/17). So, I will be waiting for the letter and I'll copy and paste my original request along with any additional info that may be required based on the denial letter. Will post any updates here once I hear.

Any advice based on past experience with NFCU recon would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: NFCU Recon

This is very strange , a lot of folks recon instantly after being denied , maybe they are changing that , I would just wait it out and give it another shot when you get the letter, which I know can be frustrating bc Navy can take forever to send them out it seems

Re: NFCU Recon

Based upon the absence of specific information / data which can be used to assess where you are at currently, other than post BK in 2012, my simple guess is that you terribly over-reached with your card selection of the Go Rewards, instead of more of a starter type card.

Until you get their letter with their reasons,  and provide specific data per card: balance/ credit limit.  Also any other information, such as Utilization Ratios, Lates, other Public Records, ect ....  there is not enough data to make any type of appropriate guess.
