Re: NFCU Requirements?

Yes, career military. But he could have retired from the Army and then had a second career. Military retirement can happen after only 20 years, so he could have been plenty young enough to start on number two.

I think I might have gotten in!!! My grandfather was in the Army, and was Honorably Discharged. I have all of his old paperwork since we were so close I was responsible for handling all of his stuff when he passed. If I can find his DD-214...I'm in!!!

Probably not actually unless he retired.  I served 4 active and 2 reserves and was deployed to the Gulf War but had to have my dad who is retired military join so I could get in.  I was really surprised that being a veteran alone was not enough.  Having said that Pentagon is pretty good and there are several ways to get in and DCU is also good.

First of all, thank you for your brave, and vital service!! And, secondly...Wow!!! Seriously?! I'm shocked that you weren't a shoe-in. I spoke to a rep today, and I could just technically live with an active service member, or retired member, and qualify, but your 4 active years, deployment wouldn't warrant you a guaranteed in? That seems wrong. But, I thank you for the other recommendations. I will look into them.

Take care...and, thank you again!
