Navy experts: I recently joined NFCU and was approved for the Flagship card with SL of $10K. It's my first card with Navy.
91/3 will come around in March 2019. When the time comes, would I be better of applying for a second card or a CLI on the Flagship?
All other things being equal, I'd rather have a big CLI (to perhaps $25K SL) on the Flagship than approval for $25K SL on a second card. I don't really need a second Navy card and I'm always concerned about AAoA.
But what strategy would you recommend to achieve the highest SL?
Pull the trigger on CLI first. Give them time to review it if it goes to review. If declined, app for a second card.
I have read most of the recent DPs and people are letting them go to review and then turning around and getting instant approval on a second card and then denied the CLI so it’s hard to say if they would have waited for the results what would have happened at that point.
I got my CLI on review (full ask), then my CLOC instantly, then my second card on review a few days later, which is pretty much opposite of all the DPs that suggest low credit scores don’t get CLIs at 91/3 and low incomes don’t get second cards at 91/3 - I had both conditions.
this summer I applied for CLI so did the wife. Went to reviews on both. I app'd for a 3rd card/her for a 2nd card- both approved. The CLI's were denied.

But did you wait to be denied for the CLIs before applying for the other cards?
